Feathered Friday - The Birds are Back in Town
Quite a few birds are out for this #featheredfriday
As usual the nuthatches are sticking to the sides of trees being difficult to photograph. I wonder if someone was to stick a few seeds to the side of a tree if they would sit still longer?
It is still cold and windy enough for the dark eyed juncos to be around. Pretty soon it will be too warm for their liking and they'll all be gone. This one kind of resembles a drab Easter peep marshmallow candy.
The robins are getting nice and bright for the spring breeding season. Should be seeing the babies in the nests in a month or two.
This goose can walk on water. The turtles are perplexed.
My wife discovered a new spot for wood ducks. As usual they take off once you get anywhere near them.
There were two pairs at this little puddle pond. I'm sure their nests are high up in the trees next to this pond somewhere.
It seems the only way I would be able to get clear pictures of these guys is to dress up in camouflage and wait for hours until they got comfortable and forgot about me being there.
Later on we went to a historical show farm to look at the chickens.
My daughter is now walking and running. My wife made some nice custom winter shoes for her and she loves running after the chickens in them. These chickens are constantly chased by kids as this is a prime visiting place for toddlers to learn about old fashioned farming and look at animals.
Just in time to see some fresh baby lambs. Quite impressive baaing for my daughter to laugh at.
That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)
How nice to see your daughter with the chickens 😄
She was loving chasing them around. Eventually she'll be fast enough to maybe pet one.
Great shots especially the wood ducks 👍 sweet winter shoes!
Those darn wood ducks have to be really shy when they are the fanciest looking ducks in this country. Those shoes are a bit large still, they should hopefully last until next winter. My wife gets lots of compliments for sewing them herself.
