Feathered Friday - Spring Last Year
Soon it will be spring but here are some photos of spring birds from last year for this #featheredfriday
This robin was out in the morning light enjoying the warmer weather. It also gets to look for caterpillars on the fresh buds.
The red-winged blackbirds all made their nests and staked their territory and are guarding their chicks.
The chicks stay well hidden in the reeds near the water. They are well protected by their dive bombing parents too.
This red wing is quite patriotic. Perhaps he has staked out this flag pole as his territory too?
If only these guy's had some blue feathers they would unseat the bald eagle as America's bird.
I usually only see the waxwings out in the prairie in the evening. This makes it difficult to get sharp pictures.
If only this was at noon my camera would have autofocused a nice sharp flying photo. Instead I get a ghost bird.
I woke up a bit too early and the light was a bit low so this cormorant was slightly out of focus.
I'm sure it was not pleased these ducks were scaring away the fish.
The sparrows are always having babies, this one just left the nest and still has an immature beak.
If you can find fledglings they are too young to be scared of photographers so close-ups are easy.
As usual the turtles are out basking in the evening sun. One of these day's I'll finally get a photo of the snapper on one of these floating islands.
That's all for now, Happy Easter
A delightful selection of photographs. I especially liked the waxwing in the field among the greenery and flowers😊
Happy Easter. Spring is officially here. I found a tick on me after working a bit in the woods 🙄 We also are hearing the wood frogs in the local swamp. Nice pics 👍
Womp, I hate ticks. Every time I see a deer in the woods I end up with a tick on me. The poor wood frogs/spring peepers here had a couple of false starts with some warm La Nina weather. Now they are finally out in full force.
