Today I would like to share the simple way and easy to cook water spinach. Water spinach is one of the popular green vegetables in Indonesia. This vegetable is known by various names such as ground kale, kangkong, or water spinach. Besides having a delicious taste and crunchy texture, water spinach is also rich in health benefits. One simple yet delicious way to enjoy kale is to fry it. In my food blog this time, I am going to talk about Sautéed Water Spinach, a simple dish full of benefits for lunch.
Sautéed Water Spinach is one of those dishes that is easy to prepare and quick to cook. This dish consists of stir-fried water spinach with simple spices like garlic, chili and salt. The fast frying process keeps the water spinach fresh with minimal loss of nutrients. Here are some of the health benefits contained in sautéed water spinach:
•Rich in fiber: Water spinach is high in fiber which is important for healthy digestion. Fiber helps prevent constipation and promotes gut health. By consuming sautéed water spinach, you can increase your daily fiber intake in a delicious way.
•Source of vitamins and minerals: Water Spinach contains various vitamins and minerals that are important for the health of the body. These include vitamins A, C, and K, as well as iron, calcium, and magnesium. Vitamin A is good for eye health, vitamin C boosts the immune system, and vitamin K supports normal blood clotting.
•Low in calories: Sautéed water spinach is a good choice for those looking to maintain their weight or reduce the calories in their diet. Kale is low in calories but rich in nutrients, making it the perfect food to eat in a weight loss program.
•Contains antioxidants: Water Spinach contains antioxidant compounds such as beta-carotene, lutein, and zeaxanthin. Antioxidants help fight free radicals in the body that can cause cell damage and lead to various diseases. By consuming sautéed water spinach regularly, you can help protect your body from oxidative damage.
•Maintains bone health: Water spinach contains calcium and magnesium, two minerals that are important for bone health. Calcium is needed to maintain strong bones and teeth, while magnesium helps good calcium absorption. Cooking Sauteed Water Spinach
The ingredients needed are of course a bunch of water spinach, garlic, shallots, some red chilies, salt, pepper and sugar.
How to make it:
Pick the water spinach leaves and stems, then wash and drain.
Then, slice the garlic, shallots and red chilies.
After that, heat enough oil then add sliced garlic and shallots, sauté until half cooked and give off a fragrant aroma.
After that, add the sliced red chilies and kale that have been washed and stir for a while.
Next, add enough water and cook briefly until the kale is soft and cooked.
And lastly, add salt, sugar, and pepper then correct the taste.
Stir-fried Water Spinach is ready to be served as a side dish for lunch. Or it can also be used as the main menu. Usually stir-fried kale is eaten with rice, and is more delicious when eaten warm. The soft texture of water spinach and its crunchy stems give a different sensation from other vegetables and a delicious taste.
