[ESP/ENGL] Cinco sabios refranes venezolanos (Número 55)
Scabies is a skin condition, produced by mites, that is thought to be really old. Perhaps that disease already existed at the dawn of humanity; then, when making this simile, it is about accentuating the old of something or someone. It is applicable to people, animals, things and situations.
This expression is very colloquial, so it has no translation, since it uses the dog figure to accentuate a negative. It is something really unique, because a noun is used as an adjective. It is an absolute denial, and it is even rude to use it, due to its markedly derogatory and even vulgar nature.
When making soup, time is required for all the ingredients to cook to their point and give a good broth; because if this process is not followed, the soup is not good, the broth is unpleasant. So with this, it is about saying that you must be patient, that there are processes that are underway but that have not yet been completed, and that when they are finished, they will give the expected result. In summary: It is a saying to advise patience, know how to wait.
In Venezuela, a tostada is an arepa which is opened, filled with cheese and other ingredients, passed through a beaten egg and fried. A toast is considered to be well made and tasty when it has enough cheese and even ham; if the toast has almost no filling, little cheese, then it is a poor toast, it is poorly made. By using this saying, it is indicated that a situation, business or relationship of which high expectations were had, was disappointing, because it did not yield the benefits or advantages that were expected from it.
It is a saying that puts a brake or a limit on people who are abusive. And when it is said abusive, it refers specifically to those individuals who like to touch (grope), things or people, without any respect. It is a serious warning.
