Here we were. You and I... once

Here we were. You and I... once,
under the golden sun that caressed the sea,
laughter floated like paper waves,
and your eyes, stars, taught me how to love.

Here you laughed, you embraced me in the breeze,
an eternal instant that we knew how to treasure,
in that corner where time slips away,
you promised me things that the wind took away,
before you, without warning and without mercy.

And although the sand no longer keeps the traces,
of those moments that ran away,
in my chest dwells the essence of stars,
an echo of laughter that remains burning.

Here, where time gives up and stays,
will always be a refuge, deep and eternal,
for though the wind may sweep away what no longer remains,
in the echo of the soul, you will always be my winter.
