Hello, my dear friends!!

I won't hide how much I was impressed by this part of Tuscany and how behind I am with posting, but slowly I'm catching up, even though I'm really enjoying the summer holidays right now.

In Garfagnana, this part of Tuscany, there are numerous small lakes, probably not very famous and certainly not as beautiful as those in Trentino, but in my opinion, worth discovering.

When I went to explore Pontecosi, I never expected to find one there; this small hamlet of Pieve Fosciana in the province of Lucca was hiding this little natural treasure.
As it was written on the sign I found, the lake is a basin formed by the construction of a hydroelectric dam in 1925, and if it hadn't been for the sign, I wouldn't have even noticed the existence of the lake, as it was completely dried up due to the drought.

But that's where I began exploring the village, and I climbed up to the fortress, where today the church stands, offering a beautiful view of the entire surrounding area.
It was there that I discovered the flower symbol of Garfagnana: the Helichrysum.

The village is not very big, some people still fortunately live there, but it was well-kept in terms of tourist information. As you can see from the photos, there are informative signs everywhere.
As usual, I took my walk around, encountering dogs and cats, but almost no humans.

As you've probably noticed, some parts of the village are very rundown, with evident signs of time passing and everything falling into abandonment.
Just imagine, according to what I found on the internet, the first official mention of this place dates back to 945, so you can imagine how many years of history this place holds.

In conclusion, I can consider this discovery interesting as well. I was able to admire different architectural structures, and even the layout of the village was different compared to others. What ties this village to the others is always the peace and tranquility that you can breathe here.
I hope you enjoyed my photos, sending you a big hug, see you soon!!!

Beautiful! I must have gone right past this place by train on my way to Florence. I thought I recognised those Tuscany clay roofs and green windows 🙏

I don't think there are railway lines nearby, but you will surely have seen other beautiful similar villages😘
