Exploring the Timeless Charm of the Hidden Tuscan Village of Verni
Hello dear friends,
This morning, I received several cancellations from some clients, so I took the opportunity to make this post about this beautiful place in Tuscany, a post I had postponed several times due to lack of time, but I’m very happy I finally managed to do it.
In fact, today I’m talking about a place that I had only had the chance to see very quickly before. If you follow me, you’ve seen that I’ve been to various places nearby, but this time, when I happened to be in the area, I was able to spend several hours in this beautiful village. It’s located in the heart of Garfagnana, about 500 meters above sea level, and it’s in the province of Lucca, although it’s a hamlet of the municipality of Gallicano.
As you can imagine from the first photos, the village has medieval origins, like many other villages I’ve talked about in this part of Tuscany. But the beautiful thing about this one is that it’s perched on this mountain, offering a stunning view of the entire southern part of Garfagnana. In my opinion, the panoramas you can see from here always take your breath away.
Of course, this village also has its unique characteristics. Sure, its narrow streets are always a bit tricky to walk through, but if you notice from the photos, there’s always something different compared to other places, making each village unique in its own way.
For example, in this one, there aren’t many remaining traces of past eras. The castle, for instance, hasn’t left any evidence, as it was probably destroyed over the centuries. Only the parish church of San Martino, which dates back to around 1300, remains, though unfortunately, I wasn’t able to visit it this time because it was completely closed.
Still, just walking through these streets amidst the houses is always an experience that leaves you with great emotions, and in some way, it takes you back in time.
In conclusion, I can say that yes, it’s a beautiful village, but it’s a bit less well-maintained than others I’ve visited. As you might have noticed in some of the photos, there are a few abandoned houses here too.
I hope you liked the photos I shared, and I hope you get the chance to see these places in person, of course. See you in my next post, and as usual, I wish you all a great day!

That's a great place. Beautiful structures of houses though some areas are too narrow and you literally need walking down there. But in the end you will see that amazing spot with mountains.
