Exploring the Hidden Gems of Tuscany: A Walk Through Minucciano
Hello dear friends,
as I've mentioned in previous posts, I had fallen quite behind in publishing about the villages of Garfagnana, the lesser-known villages of Tuscany. Nonetheless, I find them very beautiful, especially from a tourist perspective, and I believe they are worth exploring at least once in a lifetime.
as you can see, these streets are always embellished with flowers
Today, we'll talk about Minucciano, situated on a rocky spur nestled between the Apuan Alps and the Apennines. As usual, I explored it entirely on foot to better appreciate every part of this small village.
My first impression of this village was quite interesting. I immediately noticed the beautiful Minucciano tower towering over the town, likely once part of a more significant structure, possibly a castle.
Despite the less-than-perfect weather, walking through the streets of this place was very pleasant. There was a serene and calm atmosphere. But I forgot to give you some logistical information. In fact, the village is located 90 km northwest of Florence and 45 km northwest of Lucca.
As you can see from the photos I shared with you, this village is set in a beautiful natural environment, predominantly surrounded by lush forests. Therefore, there are plenty of activities to do here, from hiking to mushroom picking.
I liked the view, all nature around!!
If you noticed, the houses are nearly perfect because, unfortunately, they have been rebuilt several times over the years due to earthquakes, some very violent ones like in 1837 and 1920. However, the population has shown resilience and managed to reconstruct these beautiful houses. I think this reflects the character of those who live in these places.
When walking through these places, through these streets amidst these houses, one must always be respectful because most of these homes and streets are private property. The fact that there is relatively little tourism may be a positive thing, although in some streets, access has been restricted.
There are always a lot of stairs to climb in these places!!
this would have been a beautiful church to visit, but unfortunately it was closed!!
In conclusion, walking through these streets is always so exciting, but it definitely does good for the soul as well, as one finds peace and harmony. Slow tourism is always something I appreciate; I couldn't explore all this amidst chaos.
I hope I managed to virtually bring you along on this journey through my photos, and I'll see you on my next adventure, soon!
I was amazed in that place, we can do mushroom picking. 😊 Surely, the place is great.😊
Yes, I would still like to do this activity. I did it when I was little with my grandfather
Doing it again seems like reminiscing the past too. 😊
