"Exploring Canigiano: A Hidden Gem in Need of Care"
Hello dear friends,
With this post, I want to continue sharing what I did last weekend. In fact, I still need to share some photos I took during my vacation, but I have to tidy them up a bit since I didn’t do a great job with them.
Today, I particularly want to talk about Canigiano, a hamlet of the municipality of Villa Collemandina in the province of Lucca. We are still close to the village I mentioned yesterday, so you might want to combine your visits if you come around these parts.
The first thing that struck me when I arrived at this place was that some of the houses were in a state of abandonment. They probably hadn’t been maintained over time and were really in bad shape.
So, I started walking through the streets of this hamlet, which, unlike the others, was not very tidy and seemed a bit neglected, as you can see from the photos. However, the first thing that greeted me was a completely black cat, which is a color I adore for cats.
I walked up a fairly wide road, which could easily accommodate cars, leading me to the church—the only element of interest I had noticed about the village. I headed there hoping it would be open so I could see the interior. Fortunately, there were people cleaning inside, so I was able to visit it.
I can say that the interior wasn’t bad. I was impressed by the beautiful frescoes on the ceiling. Afterward, I continued walking nearby, where the church was located, and noticed some really dilapidated houses with very unattractive facades.
I saw a plaque on one house commemorating some brothers who were born there, but honestly, I didn’t understand who they were since the plaque wasn’t very clear.
I concluded my visit by returning to the beginning of the village, and honestly, I wasn’t very pleased with this exploration. I had hoped it would be a bit more interesting, but as you can see from the photos, it is in poor condition. Unlike other places, there wasn’t even a single flower to beautify it.
Unfortunately, some places in Tuscany are in such conditions because they are almost in a state of semi-abandonment.
In conclusion, I was still satisfied. I always look for something interesting wherever I go, and I believe there is always something beautiful to see!
See you in my next post, and I wish you all a good day!
