Hello dear friends,

this post concludes my tour of the province of Lucca. In my first post, I visited the village of Vetriano, then Colognola di Pescaglia, and finally, I arrived at the municipality of Pescaglia itself, a small village perched on a spur of the Apuan Alps in the Serchio Valley at an altitude of 500 meters above sea level.

These posts I've shared could make for a beautiful itinerary in this area of Tuscany, undoubtedly uncovering places much more historical and traditional than the typical tourist spots known worldwide.
So today, I'll talk about Pescaglia, a place of enduring importance, especially because it houses the vacation home of Giacomo Puccini, the famous composer of operas known worldwide.

As usual, I wandered through the streets of this beautiful village, admiring magnificent and opulent buildings that likely harkened back to the Puccini era, but also encountering some places in complete decay.
Yet, my curiosity pushed me to continue my walk. As usual, these steep streets put me to the test, especially in the heat. It's certainly better to visit when it's cooler, although being in a hilly area, it's not overly humid.

The walk was very relaxing. It's always delightful to observe these houses, stacked one above the other. As I've mentioned in other posts, historically, every space was utilized, sometimes for isolation, given the harsh winter climate.
I noticed many houses are for sale, perhaps inherited and now being sold. It seems quite challenging to sell houses here, especially given the difficult access to services for those who work here.

Nevertheless, I hope these places see more tourists. Certainly, Giacomo Puccini chose a vacation spot like this because the slow pace of life here allows for relaxation.

I hope my photos have been interesting, as usual. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend, and see you next time!
