Discovering the Hidden Gems of Tuscany: A Stroll Through Giuncugnano
Hello dear friends,
Sorry for my absence, but I've been quite busy between babysitting and exploring places I've discovered for the first time. I must say, it's really difficult to get around in this period because it's so hot, and it's not something I enjoy very much. However, my curiosity always drives me to discover new places. Fortunately, my job allows me to meet many people from various parts of Italy, and every now and then, I manage to meet up with them.
So today, I want to introduce you to another beautiful village in Tuscany, another lovely village located in the Garfagnana region. It's definitely a place to unplug and immerse yourself completely in nature. Giuncugnano is truly nestled in the mountains and is certainly a very peaceful place, especially for those who love long walks.
It was my dear friend Aldo who introduced me to this place, and as soon as I started walking through the streets of this small village, I immediately noticed figures hanging on the walls and scattered along the streets. From what I understood, they were part of a project to explain the type of agriculture that was once practiced in these parts.
So I continued my walk, and I immediately noticed that some people still keep chickens for eggs, a practice that has been lost in parts of Italy but is fortunately still maintained in these rural areas. This reminds me a bit of when I used to visit my grandmother, and she would always send me to collect eggs early in the morning.
Continuing my walk, I noticed that the village is in excellent condition, but as usual, it is always challenging to walk through the streets of this small village because they are always steep. So when you come here, you need to be well-trained.
While walking, I noticed the village church, about which I honestly couldn't find any information, but at least I found it open, so I could go inside and see it more closely.
I continued my walk and occasionally stopped to admire the view from this small village. I also noticed that there were some tourists, which gives me hope that these places might somehow become interesting and thus visitable by tourists from all over the world.
I would say that these places in the Garfagnana probably have fewer artistic attractions compared to other villages located further south in Tuscany. What I think is beautiful about these places is that they are more immersed in the lush green nature, and you can always have wonderful food and wine experiences, which I sometimes forget to share because when I focus on eating, I always forget to take pictures.
In conclusion, I can say that this place is also worth visiting. The visit is certainly not strenuous and it is very beautiful to admire from an architectural point of view.
I hope you liked the photos. See you in my next post, and I wish you all a good day.
