“ Mom and Dad, you better put on you hiking shoes!”🥰
That was all Silvertop needed to hear, I was ready!😇
Three days spending time with Bill and Agi over Christmas, priceless………….❤️
On the second day Silvertop was looking at his less than spectacular Fitbit steps, and planning a “hike” to town for a Latte Lol!😊
That’s when Agi informed me that they wanted to show us some of THEIR hiking trials!☺️
Bill gets his love of the Mountains honestly, and Agi and Bill are a good match!🥰
The drive to the forest was only minutes away………….
We crossed a fast running river, and pulled into the parking lot of the trailhead.
You know you are in the wilderness, when the trash containers are set up to be Bear proof!😳
Agi had to hold tightly onto Phoenix’s leash, she was ready!
“Open the door Agi, Phoenix wants to go!”🤣
The trail started out gently…………..
One switchback, after another, and then we came to the steeper sections!
Because we are closer to Seattle, ( about 30 miles) these trails can be heavily hiked in the summer. Wooden stairs have been built to minimize trail erosion.
We climbed at least three separate sections of staircases!
Then the trail made one more tight switchback, and headed steeply uphill!😅
The lookout was spectacular!
Bill tells us last year they had a sign at this cliff, stating……………
“ PEOPLE HAVE DIED HERE!”😳
This is a very “ In your face” warning to be careful!
The drop off was straight down, no cell service, if you fall you are gone………….
Ironically Silvertop was concerned for Phoenix!😍
Bill grew up in the Mountains and he is very careful!🥰
Phoenix only knows stop….. then GO FAST Lol!
The valley below was carved by glaciers, and the photo on the plaque was taken in 1934, after extensive logging.
Far off in the distance is North Bend Wa, Bill and Agi’s home, and also home to four Starbucks stores!😇
The trail back starts with……….
“ just one more step!”🤗

Great stepping there Mike, and wow that's a steep climb, good to know you made it all, and bear proof garbage cans sounds like you might get company if you are not careful, thanks for sharing and stay awesome.

Very true, my friend a very stern warning to discourage people from getting too close to the edge. Still, I saw people right up on the edge!🙄

What a height to hike and thank God there are warning signs too against stepping on some dangerous points.

I have hiked on steep mountainsides in the past and even when I put up a firm persona , I was shivering inside. There were points where I almost cried but pushed further. I guess I faced my fears.
