Is that ash falling!😳
Sunday morning and the air quality index was sitting at 197 …..Unhealthy!😲
Our normal air quality is 15-18 ………..
Particulate matter under 2.5 UM Is small enough to enter the bloodstream.
I took the first and second photos in our church parking lot this morning. The second photo was the ash that built up on Liz’s car windshield!😮
This wildfire has doubled in size in two days, with estimates between 7,000 and 15,000 acres on fire still 100 present out of control!
We have a blanket of think smoke over Western Washington, from the Canadian border down south to Seattle and beyond!😲
“Turn on the A/C honey!!”
The are now recommending mask outside, preferably N95’s.
After lunch Liz and I hiked up to Keith and Lynne’s garden.
I didn’t realize how difficult it was to hike with an N95 mask!😅
“Silvertop why are you guys wearing mask, do you guys have Covid?”😳
“Nope, just trying not to breathe in all the ash!”😇
We stopped often, huffing and puffing!
I didn’t feel like someone that hikes the steep Cascade Mountains everyday!
“Mocha frappes Liz, then shopping in town in the A/C !”😇
Mandatory level three evacuations for the towns of Skykomish and Index Washington……
Only fifty percent of the home owners are obeying this mandatory evacuation.
Everyone please be safe, homes can be replaced………. Lives cannot!

It is sad, the loss of wildlife, forests, potentially homes and towns! I have not heard what started this fire, and it's very unusual for it to be on the western slope. They do happen as our hiking trails still show evidence of one such fire back in the late 1800's!
I'm hoping for better air for tomorrow-I want to lose that mask, lol! 😘💞🤗
So many old growth western red cedar trees on the western slope of the cascades..... One spark and they are gigantic Roman candles!😬😳

Be safe there. The air quality is pretty bad. I agree that life is more important. I hope the smoke won't get inside the house when everything is closed.
It looks like the winds have shifted, we are safe up here I just worry about the families still in harms way down south........
And homes burn "Fast"!

Even when I'm only walking fast it's hard for me to breathe.l so I think it's harder to go hiking wearing your mask especially with a smoke..
