Wednesday Walk: Discovering our town

Happy #WednesdayWalk!

Guess what I discovered as I was walking around town? A tattoo parlor! Who would have thought a small town like ours would have a tattoo parlor.

It is so appropriate, since the username of Jay is @tattoodjay. Today is #wednesdaywalk, a tag he initiated some 6 years ago. That is how long ago when I started posting using his tag! Every time I hear "tattoo", I reminded of him!

Let me show a small portion of downtown Main Street.

Movie Theater

Don't let the small facade fool you! They have the most comfortable, wide, leather, reclining with your feet up-seats ever! It is small, but it that is all we need in this town.


Hotel

Hotel Woodland is a historic hotel located in Woodland, California and designed by William Henry Weeks. The hotel is on the National Register of Historic Places, and is a contributing property of the Downtown Woodland Historic District. Source




Hair, Nail, Make-up Salons, Barber Shop

There are nail salons all over, and barbershops!


Boutiques and various stores

which I will focus on sometime in the future, because they are quite interesting!




Drug Store

There are actually three, but only one is located in downtown.




I will feature the coffee shops soon as they are very pretty, but in the meantime, here is a sweet place!




Restaurants

Again. I will go through all the restaurants in town. They are all good! We actually have many bars in town.





Banks

We have 11 banks in town, can you imagine! Must be progressive, huh?
Here is one of them.



Our New Courthouse!

The centuries old Courthouse is in Court Street, which is next street.

The original building was erected in 1864, and was used for 37 years until condemned in 1911. The edifice, built in the same location in 1917, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987, and is also a contributing property in the Downtown Woodland Historic District. Source




And now, the best of all... the flower.

My tree rose is "hibernating" (for lack of better term) due to the extreme heat in our place. She has a single flower bud, but it is still beautiful!

Your town looks lovely. The photos remind me a bit of my town… except yours has that delightful California vibe. 😍 We just got a tattoo parlor this week too! 😄

You've got a tattoo parlor too, hahaha 😄!
It is huge in area (mostly farm lands), yet not so big when I first moved here. They are building numerous new homes all over. Downtown remains the same. I love it here, @dfinney. But who knows... I may make my way back to San Francisco.

No worries… I am days behind at the moment and trying to catch up now.
We were importing the car the last days. Almost… now we have to wait for a code to be send to our phone, get back to the importation office and hope coming week we get the new number plates.
Still lots to do paperwork wise.

So nice of you that you spend those minutes commenting… sorry I wasn’t around 😇

I always thought hibernating was a word used when it was cold @silvertop, hehehe!
I made a mistake—it's twelve banks. And it is indeed a good sign! Maybe people here are savers, like us!
All the chain establishments are located elsewhere, except in Main Street. IN the photos above is a fourth of the stores is Main Street. Do you think it is charming?

I love small towns that are walkable. Nice Wednesday Walk! Gorgeous flower! It may be one, but, it speaks loud enough to be heard~

Yes, small town with plenty of banks! There is Bank of America, Chase, Wells Fargo, Umpqua, Tri Countries Bank, River City Bank, US Bank, First Northern Bank, Bank of the West, Yolo Federal Credit Union, Travis Credit Union, and Golden I Credit Union. I made a mistake— there are 12 banks.
Today, the bud opened up!

This place has everything a person wants. After pampering oneself by getting into a salon, one can go to coffee shops and watch movies and all. Great place, indeed!😊

There are very beautiful places in your town, here in my town they closed the only cinema that existed many years ago and they never opened it again. Beautiful rose 🌹 😍

Such a beautiful little California town. You should stop in the tattoo parlor and get an 888 tattoo somewhere🤣. I do love little towns like that. I am from a small town in Indiana like that and live next to one now. Regretfully though the urban sprawl is eating this one up.

Nice little town, looks so rustic in it's own way. Then a huge new courthouse, it feels out of place... But everyone needs to sue everyone these days so they're bound to stay busy...

The courthouse is a modern building, whereas the rest of downtown's buildings are very, very old!
