#MarketFriday Basket

Two years ago, it crossed my mind to buy a market basket. I first saw it from my local grocer. They were imported from Africa.

I since have been looking through the internet for the right size, but nothing out there was the appropriate design and size.

I want a basket that is large, with a handle that won't squash the contents, the way traditional grocery bags would. Just like one I saw two years ago.

There was ONE basket being sold at the Farmers' Market!

This one was made from Africa by African Market Baskets, popularly called Bolga Baskets. They are made by artisans in Bolgatanga, Ghana.

It comes with three reusable mesh for produce, which I think is so neat.

And a tag of the Farmer's Market!

It is the largest basket in the market, and I think it is worth the price tag.

This Bolga Basket cost $55.00. It was exactly what I wanted... like the one I came across 2 years ago. So... I bought it!

Pretty, isn't it?

The Bolga basket is so perfect for grocery needs. I want to have that kind of basket too. It looks durable as well. How I wish that someone would give such, or perhaps I could find one around our place.

Yes, I remember you mentioned it before.
Such a great basket @silversaver888 and very handy.
We use fabric bags… but a basket like this would be better. And that the mesh produce baggies comes with it, what a great way to promote a better way of shopping.
Will get one, but after the move 😉
Thanks for sharing 😁

I never thought of reusable mesh, That’s a very smart idea, that way your basket stays in new condition @silversaver888 !😊 do you use this when you go shopping at the grocery store instead of reusable bags, looks like this could serve many purposes!🤗

Yes, certainly. I use it mostly for groceries which is our standard wet and dry goods. It accommodates the contents of two regular shopping bags, @silvertop 😊.

I use a basket for shopping too. Mine is a little more woven layers of trees. I have shown it in a few posts when I am at the market. I am not even sure where mine is from, but, the one you bought is beautiful and I am sure you will find it useful! I like that it can be shaped and then reshaped.

Great find! You will have to let me know how well it holds up! Thanks so much for being a part of #MarketFriday!

Being an import hand weaved basket that will serve you well for many years not a bad price considering the workmanship. A good eye for something different, enjoy shopping!

I had many over the years for variety of uses other than shopping.

Oldest I know is still in use at my brothers home from my parents house, must be all of sixty plus years old, used as a peg basket to this day. Small sturdy round weaved basket with solid weaved handle.

Your kitchen is so beautiful. My mum has a bag like this. She bought it before I was born. Whenever I touch it as a young girl, she would remind me of how old it is.. Africa has beautiful things and yours is just so beautiful. I love the colors used too.
