A Find in Aikahi Aloha Local Coin Shop

avatar
(Edited)

I was so tempted to buy the many coins in Aikahi Aloha Coin Shop. Afterall, I have been buying coins from the internet. Seldom do I get to fidget with them!

It includes the Diamond Head, with just a small depiction of the mountain in the background. But I came away with this round. Yeah, I bought only one piece. And it is a special round that depicts the essence of freedom.

Returning to New Hampshire, Stark retired from public life and pursued farming and business interests. In 1809, he declined an invitation to attend a reunion of Bennington veterans due to ill health. Though unable to travel, he sent a toast to be read at the event which stated, "Live free or die: Death is not the worst of evils." The first part, "Live Free or Die," was later adopted as the state motto of New Hampshire. Living to the age of 94, Stark died on May 8, 1822 and was buried in Manchester.

"Live Free or Die" is the official motto of the U.S. state of New Hampshire, adopted by the state in 1945. It is possibly the best-known of all state mottos, partly because it conveys an assertive independence historically found in American political philosophy and partly because of its contrast to the milder sentiments found in other state mottos. The phrase was adopted from a toast written by General John Stark, New Hampshire's most famous soldier of the American Revolutionary War, on July 31, 1809.

I love this silver round! Who would believe that I found it in Hawaii?

What a great find @silversaver888 🤩😎
It’s fun to walk in a shop and look through coins they sell.
You did well with buying only one.
Have a great start of the new week 👋🏻☀️💃🏻

Yes… budgets are good 😌
I’m good @silversaver888 although it is a bit toooo hot inside. 🥵🥵 The air conditioner unit broke last night and tomorrow a technician comes… never good when a heatwave is right over the country. Hubby was all cool today in the office, but I was home at work lol 😆 lucky him.
Hope you are having a great time in Hawaii 👋🏻😉😎
Much love! 🤗🥰 thank you 🙏🏻

Did U not see my post where I am Tom Selleck, wearing a Hawaiian Shirt, to conceal my firearm, and we go off, together, running thru the Jungles of MAUI and the city streets trying to solve a mystery?? <3

I hope to hit the other "major" coin shop here. @dfinney and I were collecting Hawaiian coins, but they didn't have it there. Hopefully I'll find something worthwhile!
Aloha sis and hugs and kisses 🤗😘💞

I have heard of the motto "Live Free or Die", but I had no idea of the History behind General Stark, very interesting @silversaver888! Its always nice to stack Silver coins with History behind them!!🤗

Yes, don't you love that motto @silvertop ?
1945 when it was adopted, and very assertive!
Yes, you can say that again! Some history behind it.
That is why I like the US Commemoratives!

Thank you, @emeka4 !
It was the only unique item in the shop.
Of course, there were lats of Hawaiian inspired ones, but not what I was looking for!

What an awesome find, that is a really cool looking silver round.
I have been looking around for local coin shops here, I'm sure there
has to be at least one around I just haven't found it yet.
It would be nice to go and see the silver and not have to pay for shipping.

There is one back in Sacramento, which I never got to visit the second time around. Have you tried pawnshops... except that places like those can be... you know.
I always bought via online dealers, hehehe. Yeah, paying shipping sucks!

I enjoy the history associated with coins. I was expecting a coin with a Hawaiian king but surprised with the New Hampshire General John Stark all the way across the continent and the Pacific.
Can't stop at one. What other goodies you get?

Always, with love and a bit of patience 🤗🌺❤️🌴

I think, too much of Hawaii made me not buy any Hawaiian themed coins!
I know you love history. I do learn a lot from coins, hehehe!
Yeah, be patient with me!
Aloha sis 🤗🌺❤️

Too bad they didn’t have those Hawaii rounds we collect. You’d think that would be easier to find closer to the source. 🙂
