Elden Ring - Boss Fight - Royal Knight Loretta at Carrion Manor

Royal Knight Loretta's ghost casting a glinstone-phalanx sorcery from atop her horse

In the western region of the Lands Between in ELDEN RING, there are is an area called Liurnia

Lakes. It's main structure is the Raya Lucaria Academy, a school for sorcery run by Queen Rennala a member of the Carrion Royal Family to the north east that had a manor.

After the war of the Shattering, a struggle between the demigod children of Marika and Radagon in which they quarreled over pieces of their missing mother and father's magic ring -- the Carrion Family Manor was left in ruins due to multiple assaults by the Erdtree/Two-Finger's Golden Order and Dragon-Cult. Now it is full of ghosts of lowly Carrion Soldiers, small and large Fingercreepers, trolls, pages, dragons, and the ghost of Royal Knight Loretta.

Here's a larger Fingercreeper, one of my least favorite monsters in the game.

Since Carrion Manor was an area that I missed early on, returning meant I didn't experience the usual difficulty I had when first entering other areas. It bothered me a little that there are so few Carrion Knights in the game, especially since there's so much in the lore that praises them -- warriors skilled in swordsmanship and sorcery. I imagine Royal Knight Loretta is tough for Tarnished characters with no magic defense. Another surprise was how slow she was despite being on a horse. She was very weak to most of my incantation spells. Perhaps the battle would've been more difficult without my Spirit Summon. Lovely boss-fight stage though, a roundtable of chairs around an open lake.

Here's the full video below.

Elden Ring is a great game with unique bosses! I haven't played the game, but the more people share good stuff like this, the more I want to play it. Hopefully one day I'll have a monster that can run it at the highest graphics.

Thanks! Yeah, Elden Ring's been a lot of fun -- especially the multiplayer. While I've been pretty satisfied with the performance on PS4, I bet it'd look even more beautiful on PC or PS5.

I remember, it took me at least 3 tries just to beat the guy. I saw using a melee weapon, no specific build yet.

Yeah even now I'm still rocking a hybrid build. I start with magic and try finish with my sword -- usually a quick thrusting type like Rogier's or Antspier. Using a bow or crossbow's a lot more fun than I expected but think my Strength stat needs some work before it's truly effective. Ton of people rocking Death Mage builds in PVP -- floating skulls aren't too hard to dodge but that ghost explosion's a killer if I have less than half health lol.

Sounds fun. I tried PvP with my Blood sword build, both owned and got owned those battles. One time I saw a Recusant chasing a guy who was also my target. We both invaded the guy in the same time XD.

Yeah PVP's a ton of fun. Bleed builds are crazy. I upped my Arcane a bit and it's ridiculous how much damage you can do. PVP's got a lot of funny little imaginary rules -- gesturing, buffing, gesturing, and then fighting lol. It's nice that there's a type of online decorum, but sometimes it's fun to just full-on hunt people down and basically do a raid. For hunts or raids, I'll put on an invisibility raid and try to stalk people -- not sure what the rules are but the invisibility isn't very consistent. I've also stopped a duel to temporarily team-up with my dueling opponent to hunt down people who interrupted the duel -- it's pretty funny. I try to keep a list of "polite" players and "rude" players to keep track of who to duel or raid. Sometimes I'll gear up for a raid but show up in the world of someone whose friend gave me a gift after I won a duel so I try to return the favor when I can.

Those big hands., man they look scary although they're useful to your character. And I'm amazed seeing how your character threw flame right out of him.

Yeah, there's just so many different skills and spells in Elden Ring. Tons of different combinations to choose from. I've been rocking a hybrid magic-melee build that uses incantations with the faith stat instead of sorceries with the intelligence stat. Might try a sorcery build soon, that or a bleed rogue or bleed samurai. FromSoftware needs to buff the bows though -- still no love for archers in the latest patch haha
