Web Two compared to Web Three

The Web 2.0 versus Web 3.0 narrative.

  • As I read articles on Web 2.0 and Web 3.0, I think both are tools used for human communication, human interaction and for humans who make content to share it with humans who enjoy content.
  • It also seems very clear to me, that the main differences between them are ownership, control and who gets the money earned from peoples attention.
  • The popular narrative for Web 2.0 is that Facebook took the majority of money generated from Ads, and content creators, whose content attracted people called content consumers, so Facebook could show these content consumers Ads, but neither content creators or consumers got paid anything.
  • The other part of this narrative is that social media based on decentralized blockchains will reverse the status quo of Web 2.0 social media. The narrative suggests that content producers, will own their content and a large portion of the money earned off it. Plus content consumers will also get paid.
  • This popular narrative also speaks of the downside of Web 2.0 social media; censorship, and lack of ownership over your account, and your posted content. Plus this narrative states Web 3.0 will provide little to no censorship, account ownership and content ownership.

  • Now many in the internet community have promised to build this Web 3.0 social media platform and deliver on its promises.

There are many problems in web 2.0 platforms and you have mentioned them very well. Sometimes these platforms leak the data and many time we have seen it and also censorship issue. So Web 3.0 is ging to solve these things in future.

Dear @shortsegments,
Your support for the current HiveSQL proposal (#138) is much appreciated but the proposal will expire end of December!
May I ask you to review and support the new proposal (#247) so HiveSQL can stay free to use for the community?
