Starter City Senstlessmonster Update - Ignore Income and Taxes - Mining Citizens is still great ROI

My City Overview

Weekly dCity Journal (5) (2).jpg

Starter City Investment Experiment

I started this city based off some great posts from ecoinstant. After starting dCity and feeling like I could never earn any income given the prices and tax rate, I decided to give a shot of creating a low cost Citizen Mining to drive income. Here is the city I built that gave me the best chance (30%) to get a new citizen daily, and a 1% chance for a background.

Here is my initial investment 87 Cards, 15,174 SIM

Not too bad , just over 15k SIM to give me a pretty solid chance at getting a few citizens a week. Given the prices of citizens, there is a high probability I can sell them and generate a good ROI.

  • New Citizen Chance 30%
  • Background Animation 1%
  • Tech 1%

Lets take a look at actual results as of 2/4/22

  • Immigrants - 14

Looking at the actual ROI from Sales

That is looking pretty good. I am running at a 149% ROI 98 days into the project, now I will say that students have really helped push me up a little higher than in prior updates. While I don't like selling them, to keep this experiment true I will keep selling everything. I have generated an income of 6108.5 SIM in. That is a lot higher income vs what my daily income is brining in. If you are struggling to find a way to grow, mine citizens, sell them and reinvest into growing your city. At this rate I will have close to 8k SIM and can soon also make staking rewards.

Is it still profitable? Have prices changed since I started and now my numbers misrepresent the opportunity?

This is always been a question I have when I read these... if they are 2,6,12 months old, prices move so much the claims are no longer valid. I updated my cost basis to the market prices as of today. As you can see the price have increased significantly . Even with the new prices, the actual ROI would be 83.43% and forecasted ROI 92.12%

Even with higher prices, it still represents an oppertunity to have a 92% ROI. Sure its not crazy crazy DeFI returns, but it is NFT gaming returns, and as you grow you city, you also have the oppertunity to get card price appreciation. There are plenty of opportunities to find that niche in dCity and grow you city.

Please share this with anyone you think would benefit from understanding there are other ways to make money in the game other than just Income and taxes!!!

This is great! Are you selling homeless for the lowest price or putting in a limit order to see if people come up to it? I always assumed selling homeless would be practically impossible.

I sell for close the bottom. If I see someone dumping for significantly less, I will list them higher and wait. Sometimes it takes a week. Homeless are actually required for those who are trying to train them into other citizens, so they are typically bought up and trained to other stuff. !PIZZA !LUV

I started my city days ago according to the ecoinstant post too. It's a really good city for those who don't have or don't want to spend a lot, mainly because we don't have to worry about taxes.

But I have a doubt. The game info says that we only get free citizens if we have positive income. What I mean is, without law firm you'll have negative income most days, so you have to add this to your starter city or am I missing something?

Great question. I have another account Orbflipper if you want to look. It has 0 income and still got a homeless. I think its talking about pretax income as positve.

infact, even after my -2 SIM income, I still got paid .01 SIM...I think that is to specifically allow for citizens to be mined as long as its not negative income from social support needs. !LUV !PIZZA

I received my first homeless right after buying the law firm so I got it wrong. Thanks, bro! Helped me a lot!

Time to sell some cards 😅

Great post dude. I have one of these cities set up though I rarely check it and I never sell but this is a great way for people whining about high taxes to get a return on investment.

It's cool to see how you break it down and keep track of all this stuff too. #spreadsheets

Some nice returns there. Tell me this . Is there a section in dcity that tells you how many cards were minted for any given day? I know it shows up in notifications but haven't really seen anywhere else where they show up?

Thanks!! I agree it's currently the beta way to earn a. Great ROI for a low investment and a nice way to give you the income to unlock more features. It's the posts from you that got me started down this path. I am excited not see what the next angle is! !PIZZA !LUV
