Hello, music lovers! 🎢

As the first week of September draws to a close, a new list of #newtunes suggestions for fresh music to listen to over the weekend and beyond is upon us.
Will there be any hits? Anything is possible.

Most are well-known artists working their way up to the music pedestal.
If you have a few minutes, take a look and listen to what they have prepared for us.
If you don't like something, feel free to skip it.

Gojira - Mea Culpa (Ah! Γ‡a ira!)

I'll start with the official opening of the Olympic Games in Paris this year, with the French heavy metal band Gojira. With the help of almost 300 musicians from the Paris chamber orchestras, they performed a cover of the French revolutionary song Γ‡a ira.
The composer Victor le Masne arranged the song with vocals by the opera singer, mezzo-soprano Maria Viotti.
As expected for Gojira, it is sharp.

🎡 🎧 🎡

Ren - Bitter Sweet Symphony

I still quite like Ren, the Welsh musician; I've been following him since his viral video Hi, Ren in December 2022; I've also mentioned him a few times in #newtunes.
He's been doing various covers lately, and here's his tribute to The Verve, which features a mix of rap and chamber string music.

🎡 🎧 🎡

Kim Deal - Crystal Breath

Kim Deal is an American musician, probably better known as the original bassist of the Pixies (which I will also mention below) and frontwoman of The Breeders than a solo musician.
But in November, she will release her first solo album, Nobody Loves You More. It will undoubtedly be remarkable if I listen to this Chrystal Breath track. It has a modern and fresh rock sound enriched with drone electronics that even Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon wouldn't be ashamed of. One of the songs was produced and recorded by the late Steve Albini.
I am waiting to hear more.

Ezra Collective - Streets Is Calling (feat. M.anifest & Moonchild)

Ezra Collective, the English group that last year became the first jazz musicians in history to win the Mercury Prize, the annual music award for the best UK album, announces its new album, Dance, No One's Watching, with the single 'Streets Is Calling'.
They've also invited M.anifest and Moonchild to collaborate, bringing together the sounds of Highlife, Amapian, and Afrobeat and continuing to lead listeners onto the dancefloor.
Rapping with a subtle jazz backbeat.

🎡 🎧 🎡

Moby - 'sweet moon' ft. Choklate

The American multi-instrumentalist, producer, composer, and DJ recently released the album 'Always Centered at Night 3rd Street DJ Mix' at the end of August.
New and old unreleased songs were newly remixed, each of which he invited a different vocalist to collaborate.
I chose 'Sweet Moon' for the showcase, where Choklate sings. I recommend the whole album.

🎡 🎧 🎡

Pixies - Chicken

I'm back with the Pixies, a band I saw twice at the beginning of their career when they weren't even famous, in the early 1990s, playing in small clubs in Europe. They will remain in my memory as one of the best bands I've ever seen and listened to live.
Well, they're an institution now, and the song Chicken is the trailer for their new album 'The Night the Zombies Came,' the tenth in the series, which will be released at the end of October. Recommended, of course :)

🎡 🎧 🎡

Amyl and The Sniffers - Chewing Gum

Amyl and The Sniffers is an Australian band from Melbourne. They've been on the scene since 2016. And their eponymous debut album in 2019 launched them to new heights. I've mentioned them a few times in #newtunes.
They play their version of punk, which they also call Australian pub rock, and at times reminiscent of Iggy Pop and The Stooges or The Damned.
The song Chewing Gum is a teaser for their new album Cartoon Darkness, their third in a row, which will be released at the end of October.

🎡 🎧 🎡

Radio Free Alice - Johnny

Radio Free Alice is another Melbourne band. Although Australian, they continue in the 1980s British melodic indie rock tradition like The Smiths. So far, they released one EP, Polyester, in November of last year.
This song, Johnny, is their latest single, released in July, and I can only say the same as someone in the comments: thank you, YT algorithm.
Enjoy the song!

🎢That's all for today, and enjoy your weekend with new songs!

This is an exceptionally exciting mix. Or, perhaps it would be more accurate to say an excellent dessert to round off the week. At the top, the icing on the cake, so to speak, is Ren. The truly delicious glaze comes from the Ezra Collective.
While Moby, the Pixies and the guests from Australia contribute to the filling, Gojira are responsible for the shortcrust pastry base that is far too hard.
