Beer Tasting: Carlsberg Rush and Grolsch Premium Pilsner
Hello beer lovers! π» π π»
How are you today? If you follow crypto regularly, you can't be too happy. Trouble in sight again...
But don't worry too much, because it's bad for your health. Better have a beer :)
The Hive network is running, just a few days to go until its third anniversary, HBD is stable and firmly in the saddle, and if you stake it even better, new services are being developed, so unlike other risky blockchains, we can look positively to the future. Of course, this is not financial advice :) π
Today, for the 297th #beersaturday in a row, I have two cans in front of me. One Danish, one Dutch. Brewed by big corporations. I'll try to lower my standards...
Carlsberg Rush 9
Brewed somewhere, from Carlsberg, Copenhagen, Denmark. Brewed somewhere, from Carlsberg, Copenhagen, Denmark. According to the label, it's brewed in Serbia and exported throughout the Balkans, here via the Spar grocery chain.
Can, 0.5 l, alcohol 5% ABV, 9 IBU. Lager.
What do the Master Brewers say?
Carlsberg Rush is a pasteurized pale ale first produced in 1904. It is part of Denmark's cultural heritage and is the ideal drink for a refreshing drink. Experience the harmonious balance between the pleasant bitterness and sweetness of apples while enjoying this beer with its light golden color and rich head. The aroma and flavor of the beer are a blend of pine, hazelnut, and sorrel.
Probably the best beer in the world.
The best beer in the world? Hahahahahahahahahahahahahah...
I think they're exaggerating. It's true that Carlsberg is a huge corporation and that it has bought up half of the industrial breweries in the Balkans (the other half being Heineken), but such a statement is complete bullshit.
Well, maybe they're joking. π
The beer is clear yellow in color, and the head is average and disappears quickly. It has no odor. It goes down the throat smoothly, I taste a little bitterness and even less malt sweetness, with nothing in the aftertaste. Another sip to try to taste something else, but the same.
Apparently, this is it.
A simple industrial lager that doesn't bother much with flavors and aromas. Nothing special. Drinking, of course, and the price (β¬1.09) is reasonable but without taste or soul.
I imagine that robots brew it from water and some powders. All in a strictly controlled atmosphere and environment, and signs everywhere saying Drink responsibly ... woke beer ... it's not for me ... let's move on ...
This is the latest meme I found about beer today.
More horror than funny to me. π
Grolsch Premium Pilsner
Brewed by Grolsche Bierbrouwerij Ned. (Asahi), Brouwerslaan 1, Boekelo, Overijssel, Netherlands.
Can, 0.5 l, alcohol 5% ABV. It's a Pilsner.
What do the Master Brewers say?
Weβve been brewing beers of real substance since we started in Grolle in 1615. Our Premium Pilsner has a naturally green hop aroma, a crisp finish and a clean, confident bitterness from the combination of two Hallertau hops Emerald and Magnum. This is joined by supporting malty flavors from both pale and specifically chosen malts. With our Premium Pilsner, our aim is to deliver you a drinking experience that is both refreshing and substantial. A beer with full flavor, to be enjoyed with friends. Master Brewer Peter Kuijper.
First time since I've been posting #beersaturday (and I've been doing it for more than six years) that a person with a first and last name is mentioned as a brewer (also on the can).
The beer is light yellow in color, the head is considerable and creamy. It disappears quickly. It has no odor. A sip goes down the throat smoothly. First I taste the bitterness of the hops, not very pronounced, the sweetness of the malt even less, and there are no other aromas.
In the aftertaste, the bitterness is there for a short time and then it disappears.
A little more expressive than the previous beer, but otherwise nothing special. An average industrial pilsner, I have no complaints and no compliments. For the undemanding. Just like the previous one, you can find it in Spar supermarket chains. If I had to choose between the two, I would go for this one. But I'll forget both quickly, I think.
I was expecting something similar today. Industrial beers from large corporations, affordable to anyone who walks into a shop, cannot be brewing surpluses.
And what am I listening to as I write this? Something from my yesterday's #newtunes post.
New German band playing psychedelic and kraut rock from the 70s. I just can't stop listening.
