Oh The Tides they are a Changing - Monomad Challenge
Hail to the Hive!
The average tidal exchange in St Ives Cornwall is about 5 meters, so you can imagine that can be quite a drastic difference between high and low tide. This explains the ‘swim area’ marker buoy laying forlornly on the wet wand far from any swimmable depths of sea water.
It did make me smile though and instantly reach for my camera.
Walking along the beach at low tide always has me thinking, thinking about change and renewal. Patterns and repetition, the cycle of things and on and on, my mind churns.
It had me reflecting on our recent changes and life on the water, a life I very much wish to return to, and of upcoming possibilities that have taken a little longer to materialize than we had originally anticipated.
But the sea and tides reminds me that things will move eventually, when the time is right.
It’s also impossible not to be here and imagine a life by the ocean here in Cornwall. Not on my radar really but the thought of it always flashes across my consciousness whenever I am here. I did once spend about 5 months here back in 1996 when I was doing my Divemaster course. I fell in love with it back then and am doing so all over again now.
This week in Cornwall has been a refreshing cleanse of mind and body, invigorated by windy walks on rocky seafronts, relaxing strolls on the beach, good company, good beer and great food. It was much needed and more so than I realised.
Now to negotiate my way over this slippy, rocky, seaweed laden treacherousness and find a good pub!
I really do….

Impressive the difference in tides, lets see a spectacular scenery. Very nice shots my friend. Thanks for sharing them.👍
The photos turned out great, I'm glad you captured them in black and white.
Cheers! 🤗
Extraordinary natural beauty with a black and white appearance as shown by friends.
Dammit, thanks for reminding me I forgot to include a visit to the ocean in my trip. Lovely shots of a lovely place, looks like it'd be fun to do the drunken stumble home there.
Definitely be a soft landing to cushion the many falls!
Beautiful captures 🥰
Thanks @sommylove I appreciate that. It’s always nice when someone is positive about the images you create

Wuao what incredible photos, the last photo looks scary to me, they look like dead people wrapped in seaweed.
Oh my days I really hope they weren’t! Lol
