This Morning's Sunrise, Finally Some New Photos!
I haven't been sharing many landscape photos lately, because I haven't been shooting many... The wildfire smoke has been bad up here but the winds have shifted, the fire is about 53% contained (not great but better than it was), there were finally some clouds in the sky, and the MySunset app was forecasting a fairly good sunrise. That works for me!
This is Donner Lake in Truckee, California. The trailhead for this hike is about a 10 minute drive from my house and the hike is only about 15-20 minutes. I did have a little bit of a scare on the hike in the dark out to this spot. I noticed couple pair of glowing eyes reflecting the light from my headlamp. It startled me but I was able to focus the light beam from my headlamp on the eyes, they were just deer... I ended up passing about 20 deer total on that section of the hike. Kind of cool but no photos, I had a mission:
The pink colors above lasted only a short amount of time. I decided to stick around a bit longer and get a panorama shot of the sun actually rising over the horizon.
Both these images were shot on a Canon 5DS R with a 16-35mm lens. Two graduated neutral density filters were used on the front of the lens in order to balance out the sky exposure with the foreground exposure. These are very high resolution images and can be printed huge!

And thank you hivewatchers. You are so amazing for defending the platform and housing appeals and helping educate people that have done small little problems. They have been front lines with this fight. They have this issue identified and have removed and my chance at this account getting rewards.
And to the mental health tag and movement... This is a person in need of help and support. If there's empathetic people here and listening to this? Please go talk with this person and see what you can do.
No hard feelings. But this situation and abuse... It's gotten too old and the entire community is fighting back.

And next.... Hivewatchers has this as a problem and have done anything and everything to help combat abuse in this case. I'd like to personally thank them for the work we don't realize or thank them for. I've had issues and have thrown fits in the hivewatchers discord and won. And they have done some huge work we don't see. They reduced this to the point where it's mostly muted.
And even they are frustrated. The tribes are too. Big actions are coming. The troops are lining up. It's gonna be a little bit of a massacre.
And for the mental health of this person. I'm actually praying and I'm sorry for being frustrated. However... The people affected? And the community learning how to combat this issue? Thank all of you hivians each and everyone of you have me and my puppy's utmost respect.
Not begging votes. And using my resource credits to say that this community can say no. And ask for more avenues to be explored under extreme circumstances like these.

I can never get the sun that 'stary'. I guess I'm supposed to fiddle with the apperture, but it never works =/
Wide angle lenses work best and yup, the smaller the aperture the better for getting a nice starburst effect. Cheers!
Wider I got is 18mm (Nikon 18-105mm not great). Thinking about the 16-35mm but it's a hella expensive
The 18mm end of the lens should be perfect. I often go out with just a 24-105mm and that lens will work too. It just doesn't work great when you zoom in. The f22 or small aperture is what is really important (maybe f16 or f18 if it works for the scene).
But remember... it's never really good for your eyes to look through the viewfinder at the sun. I try to use live preview. It's also not the healthiest thing to do for your image sensor.
Good to know! Because I'd stick my not so good eye in there and mess it up more than it is \o\
