Snowy Downtown Truckee Photos

Catching up on work today after a four day power outage. To be fair, we did have a generator and 4G internet most of the time.

My son @enak is in town so a few days ago while the power was out, we went out hunting for photos in Downtown Truckee, California (about a 10 minute drive from my house). It was looking incredible and I ended up with a few "keepers" for my website.

All of these were shot with a Canon 5DS R and a 24-105mm Canon lens. No lens filters were used. The Truckee River shot below was handheld but a tripod was used for the other images.

Oh, for a bit of perspective... The river photo below was shot from the bridge in the bottom left of the photo above. It looks like a regular street but there is a sidewalk and guard rails under that snow berm and I have taken many photos from that bridge over the years.

Truckee has a lot of tourists visit, and our town puts in a lot of effort to look nice during the Christmas holidays. I think they always do a great job. The snow was still sticking to the big Christmas tree so quite a few photos were taken. Here's a couple:

It was a cold but fun evening!

Wow, 4 day power outage. That's pretty serious, haha. Glad you had a generator.

Indeed. It's always fun to go out shooting when it looks like this here. Everything is all sloppy and not photogenic today. Still nice though.

(Edited)

We had a similar scene in Estonia as well, a week ago.

Now it's all black again. Hoping the snow would come back before Christmas.

Nice! I hope you get more snow, and I hope you keep your power if you do... Cheers!

Fortunately we have underground lines so this is usually not a problem here.

Jealous. My homeowners association keeps voting against spending the money on going underground. There were a lot of trees and power lines down after this last storm.

These photos are beautiful, looks like a beautiful winter wonderland. 4 days no electricity, that must be hard. Glad that you had a backup...

Thank you @priyanarc! After a couple days, it did indeed get hard. More mentally than anything. Lights in the evening are nice.
