New Lake Tahoe Photo And Fishing Photos

Yesterday was a great day! I met up with a good friend that I hadn't seen in a while and we went out on his fishing boat on Lake Tahoe. I've been fishing with Pete many times on this boat over the years, he recently upgraded from manual downriggers to electric downriggers and man, what a difference! The downrigger has a big weight on it, you attach your fishing line to it, and then you lower the weight down and it brings your fishing lure down to much lower depths while you troll. My arm usually is pretty sore by the end of the day after lowering it and raising it many many times. But my arm felt great yesterday, just had to press a button!

I almost always bring my Canon camera with me when I head out fishing, but only a few photos were taken yesterday. It was mainly a fishing trip, not a photography trip. At one point, the light on Lake Tahoe was looking pretty incredible. The ripples on the sand were looking great at this spot too. I doubt this shot will be my next "best seller" but I like it, it's definitely very Tahoe.

Back to the fishing... Here's Capt. Pete landing a Mackinaw trout. We only caught two fish near the end of the day, it was still very enjoyable to be out on the water and fun to catch up and shoot the shit.

Pete's boat is a fairly small aluminum boat with a 50 horsepower Honda motor. I think it's the perfect size. He can easily store the boat in a garage (something that is very beneficial in snow country) and it can motor from one area of this big lake to another fairly fast.

The reward! Ok, the good times and incredible view might have been a bigger reward, but I do enjoy cooking the fish I catch. Mackinaw tastes alright, however it's probably my least favorite type of local fish to eat. A bit oily and heavy on the fishy taste/smell. I've cooked many and my favorite way to do it is on the gas grill. No frypan, or wood plank. Just let those oils drip out and let the meat get a little more dry. It needs it.

A great dinner after a great day.
I hope you are all having a great day out there too. Cheers!
