Icicles In The Neighborhood
Yesterday was the perfect weather to form big icicles in the trees. My neighborhood was looking magical, sparkling everywhere you looked. Today, most of the ice has melted or fallen out of the trees, along with the fresh snow. Fortunately, I shot a few photos when everything was still looking it's best. This little scene is from a tree in my neighbor's yard, it was the the most photogenic icicle I could find.
Shot with a Canon 5DS R and a 100-400mm lens, set to 400mm. A tripod and a shutter release cable were used, but no lens filters. ISO 100, the lens aperture was f/18, and the exposure time 1/60 of a second.
And these driveway/street pics below were shot a bit after the icicle photo fun. That's Quill dog sitting there, the snow is deep!
Thank you for looking and I hope you area all having a great weekend!

I got a hat just like yours with the torch for Christmas and it’s my favourite present this year! So handy.
That’s stunning snow you’ve got there, utterly beautiful.
It's the perfect amount of light for lighting up the camera and checking the settings. And for walking the dog, and for getting wood from the wood pile, and... Yup! It's a great item. Glad you like the snow photo!
Nice capture with the sun lighting up the icicle. We finally got a little snow 6ish inches. It looks like it is really stacking up in Truckee. I have some pictures somewhere from when my kids were little in Minneapolis. The snow was stacked so deep in our yard that they were sledding from the yard down onto the shovelled sidewalk 😁
Big year here, for sure. Glad you have some fresh snow out that way. And yup, the snow makes for a great playground, I used to build quite the park in the backyard when my son was young. Fun times.
Beautiful photos.
You have a lot more snow than we do up here in Canada 🇨🇦
Nice! It's been a while since we've had any fresh snow but yeah, we probably have you beat on total inches. Good dog Lola!
