My experience listening to the Opera "La Traviata" [ENG/ESP]
Greetings to all the Music Community, this is my first time sharing with you. I would like to express myself more with you in the future about my musical tastes and my experience in the area, because, although I am not an expert, I can handle myself with some terms, since I am an arts student and I am taught the basics.
Un saludo a toda la comunidad de Music, esta es mi primera vez compartiendo con ustedes. Me gustaría expresarme más con ustedes en el futuro acerca de mis gustos musicales y mi experiencia en el área, pues, aunque no soy una experta, puedo manejarme con algunos términos, ya que soy estudiante de artes y me enseñan lo básico.
As a first post, I would like to tell you about my experience attending the opera "La Traviata" or "La Extraviada" by Giuseppe Verdi, which was presented last Sunday April 21 at the Rios Reyna Hall of the Teresa Carreño Theater.
It should be noted that it was the first time I attended an opera and, to add to my fascination, I loved the staging. The voices of the performers were a delight for my senses and the Ayacucho Symphony Orchestra aroused my admiration; they managed to play the whole piece without any problem and with great harmony. It was totally worth the approximately 4 hours (counting the intermissions) in which I enjoyed the presentation.
Como primer post, me gustaría hablarles de mi experiencia asistiendo a la ópera "La Traviata" o "La Extraviada" de Giuseppe Verdi, la cual fue presentada el pasado domingo 21 de abril en la Sala Ríos Reyna del Teatro Teresa Carreño.
Cabe recalcar que era la primera vez que asistía a una ópera y, para más fascinación, amé la puesta en escena. Las voces de los intérpretes fueron un deleite para mis sentidos y la Orquesta Sinfónica Ayacucho despertó toda mi admiración; lograron tocar toda la obra sin ningún problema y con gran armonía. Valió totalmente la pena las aproximadamente 4 horas (contando los entretiempos) en que disfruté la presentación.
Here is my entrance. I was a little far away from the stage, in the balcony seats of the hall; however, it was perfect to hear and understand everything wonderfully. At the same time, the distance gave the illusion that I was watching a movie; the scenery and the colors complemented the presentation, everything was spectacular.
Aquí les muestro mi entrada. Estaba un poco alejada del escenario, en los asientos del balcón de la sala; no obstante, se escuchaba perfecto y se entendió todo de maravilla. A su vez, la distancia daba la ilusión de que estaba observando una película; el escenario y los colores complementaron la presentación, todo era espectacular.
Upon arrival, we were handed information leaflets with all the pertinent data: the theme of the play, the explanation of its acts, the board, the sponsors, the performers, the orchestra and a host of personnel who made it all possible (I will show you three interesting pages later). The main entrance was adorned with curtains of the presentation that advertised the atmosphere and there were many people in the corridors, all very elegant for the occasion.
I left very flirtatious with my brothers, my uncle, his secretary and his son; we were all very happy and eager to see the opera. Here I will leave you some pictures:
Al llegar, nos entregaban folletos informativos con todos los datos pertinentes: la temática de la obra, la explicación de sus actos, la directiva, los patrocinadores, los intérpretes, la orquesta y un sinfín de personal que hizo todo posible (más adelante les enseñaré tres páginas interesantes). La entrada principal estaba adornada con telones de la presentación que hacían propaganda al ambiente y había muchas personas en los corredores, todos muy elegantes para la ocasión.
Yo me fui bien coqueta con mis hermanos, mi tío, su secretaria y su hijo; todos estábamos muy felices y ansiosos de ver la ópera. Aquí les dejaré unas fotitos:

This last photo is one of my favorites; I find the Reina hall extremely beautiful, besides having incredible acoustics and lighting. At the same time, it is gigantic; as I understand, it has the capacity to hold around 2,300 people.
Esta última foto es una de mis favoritas; la sala Reina me parece sumamente preciosa, además de que tiene una acústica y una iluminación increíbles. A su vez, es gigante; según tengo entendido, tiene la capacidad de acoger alrededor de 2.300 personas.
Here I show you a little bit about the synopsis of the play.
Por acá les muestro un poco acerca de la sinopsis de la obra.
In itself, it consists of three acts. The first one unfolds in the celebration of a courtesan, Violetta, in the living room of her mansion in Paris, because she suffers from tuberculosis and was having a positive moment in the face of her illness. During that presentation, she meets Alfredo, who falls madly in love with her. Violetta at first rejects him because she is in the throes of depression due to her illness, but then she gives in and moves in with him in a country house (this is where the second act takes place).
Alfredo's father, Germont, for social reasons, opposes their union, also because he wants to offer his daughter (Alfredo's sister) in marriage, but he thinks that his future fiancé will not give in because of his family's condition.
Consequently, he ends up convincing Violetta to break up with Alfredo without his knowledge; she goes back to Paris and later, attends a party with a friend. Alfredo misunderstands her and humiliates her in front of everyone; however, none of the guests defended his attitude, rather, they felt sorry for Violetta and helped her.
Germont did not agree with his son's attitude either and reprimands him.
The third act ends with Violetta on her deathbed, repentant for having listened to Alfredo's father. However, hours before she dies, she is reunited with her beloved Alfredo and her repentant father. They promise her a happy life; however, her illness was very advanced and she could only get a glimmer of hope. Violetta dies in Alfredo's arms.
Undoubtedly, it is a play that leaves a great void and much room for reflection.

Por acá les muestro un poco acerca de la sinopsis de la obra. En sí, consta de tres actos. El primero se desenvuelve en la celebración de una cortesana, Violetta, en la sala de su mansión en París, pues ella sufre de tuberculosis y estaba teniendo un momento positivo frente a su enfermedad. Durante esa presentación, conoce a Alfredo, quien se enamora perdidamente de ella. Violetta al principio lo rechaza porque está sumida en la depresión de su enfermedad, pero luego cede y se muda con él a una casa de campo (aquí transcurre el segundo acto).
El padre de Alfredo, Germont, por razones sociales, se opone a su unión, también porque quiere ofrecer a su hija (la hermana de Alfredo) en matrimonio, pero piensa que su futuro prometido no cederá debido a la condición de su familia.
Consecutivamente, termina convenciendo a Violetta de que termine con Alfredo sin que él lo sepa; ella se devuelve a París y más adelante, asiste a una fiesta con un amigo. Alfredo la malinterpreta y la humilla delante de todos; no obstante, ninguno de los invitados defendió su actitud, más bien, le tuvieron mucha lástima a Violetta y la ayudaron.
Germont tampoco estuvo de acuerdo con la actitud de su hijo y lo reprende.
El tercer acto termina con Violetta en su lecho de muerte, arrepentida por haberle hecho caso al padre de Alfredo. No obstante, horas antes de morir, se reencuentra con su amado Alfredo y su padre arrepentido. Le prometen una vida feliz; sin embargo, su enfermedad estaba muy avanzada y solo pudo obtener un brote de ilusión. Violetta muere en los brazos de Alfredo.
Sin duda, es una obra que deja un gran vacío y mucho espacio para la reflexión.

The moment to see the images of the staging has arrived. I was super excited the moment they turned off the lights. I thought they were going to sing in Spanish, naively. To my surprise, they sang perfectly in Italian and a big screen on the stage was translating each of the lines that were sung; for me it was extraordinary.
El momento de ver las imágenes de la puesta en escena ha llegado. Me sentí súper entusiasmada en el momento en que apagaron las luces. Pensé que iban a cantar en español, ingenuamente. Para mi sorpresa, cantaban perfectamente en italiano y una gran pantalla sobre el escenario iba traduciendo cada una de las líneas que se cantaban; para mí fue extraordinario.
Here you can admire how beautiful the stage looked; they gave 20 minutes of time between acts to change all the scenery. I really don't have words to describe the beauty; too bad my phone didn't capture specifically what I could see.

I found it very admirable how the main roles sustained their intonation to the end without forcing their voices one bit, especially the interpreter of Violetta, who at the end launched a spectacular treble without any difficulty.
I applaud the talent of all the musicians; it was an unforgettable experience. Without a doubt, I was left wanting more; I want to attend another opera again, it has become one of my favorite genres because it includes music and theatrical drama as a scenic language.

Aplaudo el talento de todos los músicos; fue una experiencia inolvidable. Sin duda, quedé con ganas de más; quiero volver a asistir a otra ópera, se ha vuelto uno de mis géneros preferidos por incluir la música y el drama teatral como lenguaje escénico.
