[ENG|ESP] My favorite moments of Dragon Ball Z

To me Akira Toriyama was a genius who knew very well how to use a universal language in the world of entertainment to create a story that was able to reach deeply into the hearts of millions of people with different cultures around the world, this is why I wanted to tell you about my favorite moments from his most famous work.

I’m sure many of you here felt very anxious when Frieza executed Krillin in Dragon Ball Z. I was shocked the first time I saw that scene as a child and the only thing on my mind back then was that all was lost for Goku and his companions. The thing that stood out the most during this impactful moment was the Super Saiyan transformation, the dramatic soundtrack, the pictures of the thunders in the background and Goku’s scream of rage. I think that if this episode was released today, it would have certainly broken the internet.

I have to admit that Vegeta was never one of my favorite characters, he was too selfish and cruel, and always thinking about becoming stronger to beat Goku, nonetheless when this crucial moment presented itself for him to do something to save the world, I was surprised that the proud Saiyan prince sacrificed himself and expressed true affection for his family and respect for his rival, Goku. Definitely a sad moment but also a very important one of redemption for this character.

The first time I saw future Trunks ending Frieza and his father I was awed, when I was watching the episode, I thought Goku was going to be the one to finish the evil villain. What I liked the most of this part was the epic soundtrack that could be heard during the battle, but it was also cool to see someone ridicule Frieza. Another detail that I found interesting was the revelation of Vegeta and Bulma, two characters I never thought would end up together to become Trunks’ parents.

During the androids saga, Gohan reached his maximum growth as a character, and he was the main focus of many epic and unforgettable moments. To me, his best two moments were when he became a Super Saiyan 2 for the first time after hearing the emotional speech of android 16, before this one was destroyed, and the other one was when the young Saiyan used the last of his strength to defeat his worst enemy with a final attack to save the world.

In my opinion the greatest part of the first moment is the suspense, you understand what’s going on in Gohan’s mind, there’s no music during this scene, until suddenly the boy’s power is unleashed, this was a very impactful moment, especially because Gohan’s Latin-American voice actress did such a marvelous job, it’s truly a gripping scene. In the second moment, the part that stands out the most is the emotive and satisfactory sensation of seeing Gohan control his fears and come out victorious before Cell, thanks to everyone’s help. To me this was an amazing end to the saga. There are obviously more great moments, but these are the ones that I chose since they are the ones that had the strongest effect on me after so many years.

Para mi Akira Toriyama fue un genio que supo muy bien cómo utilizar un lenguaje universal en el mundo del entretenimiento, porque consiguió hacer que la historia de Dragon Ball calara profundamente en el corazón de millones de personas de diferentes culturas alrededor del mundo, por este motivo voy a contarles algunos de mis momentos favoritos de su obra más conocida.

Estoy seguro que muchos aquí sintieron una tremenda angustia cuando Freezer liquido despiadadamente a Krillin en Dragon Ball Z, yo después de que vi esta escena por primera vez cuando era niño, quede en shock y por mi mente solo pasó que todo estaba pedido para Goku y los demás más. Lo que más destacó de este impactante momento de la primera transforma en Super Saiyajin, es la dramática banda sonora, las imágenes de los relámpagos cayendo al fondo y el grito que hace Goku para desatar su furia. Pienso que si este episodio se hubiese estrenado en la actualidad habría roto el internet de una forma sorprendente.

Debo admitir que Vegeta nunca fue un personaje que me agradara en Dragon Ball Z, debido a que era un tipo insensible y egoísta que solo pensaba en volverse más fuerte para vencer a Goku, sin embargo cuando se le presentó un momento crucial para que hiciera algo para salvar el mundo, me sorprendió como el orgulloso príncipe de los Saiyajin dejó todas sus actitudes desagradable de lado, para sacrificarse y expresar que realmente si quería a su familia y respetaba a su rival Goku. Definitivamente este fue un momento triste y de redención muy importante para este personaje.

La primera vez que Trunks del futuro apareció para liquidar a Freezer y a su padre yo quede muy asombrado, y es que mientras veía este episodio por primera vez pensaba que Goku era quien iba a aparecer para derrotar al malvado villano. Lo que más me gustó de esta parte de la serie, fue la épica banda sonora que pusieron de fondo durante la batalla y ver como alguien ridiculizaba con su poder a Freezer. Otro detalles que también me pareció interesante, fue la revelación sobre Vegeta y Bulma, dos personajes que jamás imagine que se harían pareja para terminar siendo los padres de Trunks.

Durante la saga de los androides Gohan posiblemente alcanzo su mayor crecimiento como personaje, y es que protagonizó momentos muy épicos y difíciles de olvidar para cualquier fan de la serie. Para mí los dos mejores fueron cuando se transformó en Super Saiyajin 2 por primera vez después de aquel emotivo discurso que le dice el androide 16 antes de ser destruido, y él otro fue cuando el joven Saiyajin sacó fuerzas de donde ya no le quedaban para vencer con un ataque final a su peor enemigo y salvar el mundo.

En mi opinión lo más genial del primer momento, es su tono de suspenso y como te mete en la mente de Gohan sin que haya una música de fondo que acompañe la escena, hasta que repentinamente el muchacho expulsa todo su poder, esto simplemente me dejo impactado, especialmente porque la actriz de voz de Gohan para Latinoamérica hizo un trabajo que te deja los pelos de punta. Del segundo momento me parece muy destacable la emotiva y satisfactoria sensación que te deja la serie, tras ver como Gohan logra superar sus miedos y prevalecer victorioso ante Cell, gracias a la ayuda de todos los demás personajes, para mí esto fue un cierre de saga muy espectacular. Obviamente hay más momentos geniales, pero definitivamente yo me quedo con estos porque son los que más me siguen impresionando después de tantos años.
