Crash Bandicoot 2 Review - The return of your favorite marsupial
If you have being a part of the gaming world for a long time, you’d know that Naughty Dog jumped into fame thanks to the huge success of Crash Bandicoot, in fact, this company didn’t waste any time and took the opportunity to use the technical capabilities that the PlayStation offered to make a sequel about the adventures of this marsupial.
And as it was expected, this new Crash game offered many new and varied novelties in comparison to the first game. Now the charming marsupial had new skills besides his speed and jumps, he could slide, crouch and also use some gadgets to face the different dangers that await him.
About the gameplay, the truth is that it is very similar to the first Crash game, it has levels in which we must advance backward or forward toward the screen, other levels that have a side view. In any case, the objective is to take Crash to the end of each stage while avoiding or stepping on the enemies that get in our way, and to pick up the items we find along the road.
It’s worth knowing that this game is structured different than the first one, the levels are distributed in rooms that give us access to five stages that we can complete in any order, after completing these five stages we have to fight a final boss, these enemies are easy to defeat and equilibrate the game’s general difficulty. Another nice change is that we can save our progress at the end of any stage without having to enter the bonification levels like in the first one.
When we talk about the progression of the game’s difficulty, we have to understand that only the first levels are easy to complete, since after those few levels the game starts making use of some curious elements and the variety of the stages will test our abilities with the control, with the jump button specially, since it’s fundamental, there are other levels where having good reflexes is necessary, for example, to escape a persecution from a hungry polar bear. But that’s not all, being able to complete the bonification routes from many levels is a real challenge, this is without mentioning the stages in which we drive a rocket, ride a very tiny bear and others where we slide over water using a propelled board.
The last thing I can say is that there is a remastered version of this game for modern systems in the N. Sane Trilogy collection. The difficulty is toned down thanks to the auto saving feature and the check points that appear if we die too many times in a level.
In conclusion, this sequel is better than the first game thanks to the new things it has to offer, the graphics are good, the soundtrack is dynamic and fun and the comedy is very unique. Not only that, but the game has a good balance of varied challenges and secrets that expand its duration, specially if you want to complete it at 100% to see the epilogue, I definitely recommend it.
Anyway, that’s all people, now I would like to know: what do you guys think about this sequel? 😎

Played this on the Switch when they did the remaster. Never finished all of them due to rage building up from having to do pixel perfect jumps. Such a great set of games though.
The remastered collection of these games is really nice, I played it on PC. Finish these games is not an easy cake, however I can tell you that the remastered versions are easier than the originals because they have autosave and some enemies give you more time to react to their attacks. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to read and support my post!
I am aware that this game was the childhood of many. Particularly not, because when I was a kid I was more of a Nintendo guy.
Greetings, friend.
That's interesting, I grew up playing Playstation consoles and wished to have the N64 or a GameCube, I think Nintendo consoles have many wonderful platform games.
