Viral Drivel

If you ever want an example of how d**b people are... how about this.

image.png

Ohhh yesssss say the masses.

Oh gosh, I have been saying this all along, say others.

The truth! Says another.

Er, no.

The purpose of birth control is to prevent births...

Ohhh but

They say.

"You mean the woman gets pregnant means it’s her fault?"

Says the living-non-sequitur-bot.

Listen, fools.

Of course it's not fair!

An unwanted pregnancy is not fair.

A woman can sleep around as much as she wants or just once and will get pregnant once every 9 months. A man? In 9 months he can father 1000s of kids. And yes, the women has to take responsibility for the kids. The woman !

By definition ! Not fair!

It's biology. Also it's life.

This is a view about what's ok and what's not.
It's about how humans *should * behave.

In other words, it is a moral view.

It's a valid moral view. I agree.

Morally, men should take shared responsibility for sexual reproduction and contraception. They should. Men cause relatively more harm, by way of unwanted pregnancy, while women bear the brunt.

So it's morally valid.

But ....imagine I put out this idiotic meme ...

Dogs are great. Because rats are pink...

Would you want to be associated with my views?
(Even if dogs are great).

Of course not. Who wants to be associated with a idiot?
I'm more likely to have you hating dogs...

So that's the problem I have with the viral meme. And the internet.

THOUSANDS of people could not look past its illogic.

THOUSANDS of people undermined all those logical people who hold the valid sentiment that men have a moral responsibility for their sexual reproduction.

The meme sets up a false argument and uses this to support a moral sentiment.

Let's get it straight.

Is it better to give contraception to men or women?

OPTION 1
4 men use birth control.
RESULT 1
All 5 women pregnant.

OPTION 2
4 women use birth control.
RESULT 2
1 woman pregnant.

Women taking contraception is the better strategy.

Logic.

Not morals.

And we wonder how it is that kids are losing their ability to think critically.

I agree about BigTech algorithms.
But it is shocking how few follow a logical argument.
As you say psychology- confirmation bias.

The problem is that this is the standard which children are exposed to when they are forming their opinions about the world.
