Movie Review: After The Promise | El Valor de una Promesa

Es una película estadounidense de 1987 una historia real, que está ambientada de 1935 en un pueblo de la ciudad de California y comienza dónde toda la familia está feliz, pero su esposa Florencia tenía días sin sentirse muy bien de salud, sin embargo, no dijo nada, Elmer su esposo la lleva una noche al hospital, ya que se puso muy mal y está fallece, Elmer entonces debe cuidar a sus 4 hijos, el papá recurre a una trabajadora social para que le ayude con una niñera o conseguir un préstamo para pagar el funeral, pero más allá de eso la trabajadora le propone entregar a sus hijos al cuidado del gobierno a lo que esté se niega y les dice que ellos perdieron a su madre, pero que aún tienen un padre.

It is an American film of 1987 a true story, which is set in 1935 in a town in the city of California and begins where the whole family is happy, but his wife Florence had days without feeling very good health, however, did not say anything, Elmer her husband takes her one night to the hospital, because she got very bad and dies, Elmer then must take care of his 4 children, the father turns to a social worker to help him with a nanny or get a loan to pay for the funeral, but beyond that the worker proposes to give his children to the care of the government to which he refuses and tells them that they lost their mother, but they still have a father.

Se les asignó una niñera y está en vez de cuidarlos, mete a la casa a un hombre y saca los niños a la calle, cuando Elmer llega descubre que uno de sus pequeños hijos estuvo a punto de ser atropellado por un auto, de esta manera es cuando descubre a la niñera encerrada con un hombre, el los corre de la casa y la niñera busca vengarse así que va a servicios sociales y acusa al padre y hasta los hijos de ser las personas más locas que jamás vio.

El estado decide proceder y quitarles los 4 niños a Elmer con la policía, al momento de llegar a esa casa, descubren que estaba al cuidado del hijo mayor Richard.

They were assigned a nanny and instead of taking care of them, she puts a man in the house and takes the children out into the street, when Elmer arrives he discovers that one of his young children was about to be run over by a car, this is when he discovers the nanny locked up with a man, he runs them out of the house and the nanny seeks revenge so she goes to social services and accuses the father and even the children of being the craziest people she has ever seen.

The state decides to proceed and take the 4 children away from Elmer with the police, by the time they get to that house, they discover that it was in the care of the oldest son Richard.

Esta historia me conmovió mucho, ya que me dio mucha tristeza el hecho de que estos chicos y su papá tenían un hogar hermoso, cuando fallece su mamá en lugar de recibir apoyo, recibieron maldad, así lo llamaría yo, sobre todo por la trabajadora social quien se ensaña de una terrible manera con esta familia, sin poner una mano en su corazón, puesto que eran niños y lo único que les quedaba era su papá y estaban pasando por un dolor terrible.

Cuando vienen a llevarse a los niños, el papá estaba trabajando y cuando se enteró corrió al hospital donde los encierran en un cuarto y no los dejaron salir ni acercarse a ellos, entonces se dispuso a luchar día y noche tratando de recuperarlos.

Cuando veía esta historia me di cuenta de que hay personas con un corazón tan duro, lo digo porque al ver el sufrimiento de este padre, yo tuve la oportunidad de conocer a alguien con un caso similar, madre soltera, su esposo había fallecido y está trabajaba muy duro para sacar adelante a su hija, pues su papá ni siquiera llegó a conocerla y a raíz de sus problemas con los vecinos quienes tenían contacto con las autoridades le quitaron a su única niña y estuvo retenida en un albergue injustificadamente por casi un año.

This story moved me very much, because I was very saddened by the fact that these boys and their father had a beautiful home, when their mother died, instead of receiving support, they received malice, that's what I would call it, especially by the social worker who was so cruel to this family, without putting a hand on her heart, since they were children and the only thing they had left was their father and they were going through a terrible pain.

When they came to take the children away, the father was working and when he found out he ran to the hospital where they locked them in a room and would not let them go out or go near them, so he set out to fight day and night trying to get them back.

When I saw this story I realized that there are people with such a hard heart, I say this because when I saw the suffering of this father, I had the opportunity to meet someone with a similar case, a single mother, her husband had died and she worked very hard to raise her daughter, her father did not even get to know her and because of her problems with the neighbors who had contact with the authorities they took her only child and she was held in a shelter for almost a year without justification.

Cierto día, le permitieron a este hombre ver a sus hijos y ellos le piden que los lleve a casa y él sin dudarlo los sube al auto y cuando iban en camino la policía lo acusa de secuestro, lo bajan del vehículo y frente a sus hijos le dan una paliza. Él va hasta cementerio y frente a la tumba de su mujer le hace la promesa de que recuperará a sus hijos (de ahí el título de esta película).

Él siguió luchando por años para recuperar a sus hijos, un día conoce a una mujer y se enamoran, él le cuenta su historia y deciden casarse y ella se embaraza de una niña. La trabajadora social era una mala mujer quien llevo a 3 de los niños en el albergue a una escuela para niños especiales (con condiciones especiales) dónde comenzaron a recibir malos tratos y al niño más pequeño lo llevaron a otro lugar, los 3 niños trataron de escapar de ese lugar y la policía los encontró u los devolvió a ese lugar, les dieron una golpiza tan fuerte sobre todo a Richard quien era el mayor que lo dejaron con una lesión en la pierna para siempre mientras que a los otros dos le colocaron cadenas en sus tobillos.

One day, this man is allowed to see his children and they ask him to take them home and without hesitation he gets them in the car and when they are on their way the police accuse him of kidnapping, they get him out of the car and in front of his children they beat him up. He goes to the cemetery and in front of his wife's grave he promises her that he will get his children back (hence the title of this film).

He kept fighting for years to get his children back, one day he meets a woman and they fall in love, he tells her his story and they decide to get married and she gets pregnant with a girl. The social worker was a bad woman who took 3 of the children in the shelter to a school for special children (with special conditions) where they began to be mistreated and the youngest child was taken to another place, the 3 children tried to escape from that place and the police found them and returned them to that place, they were beaten so badly especially Richard who was the oldest that they left him with a leg injury forever while the other two had chains put on their ankles.

Una verdadera tortura lo que sufrieron estos cuatro niños, a cada uno entonces a medida que pasaban los años lo ingresaban en una institución diferente pero hubo un médico que conoció a Richard y gracias a él pudo reencontrarse con su papá y sus otros hermanos aunque el daño ya estaba hecho en cada uno de ellos, a Richard además de que dañaron una de sus piernas también fue esterelizado.

Sentí tanta rabia, impotencia y el corazón se me encogió al ver tanta maldad hacia unos niños inocentes cuyo único pecado fue perder a su madre, no me imagino cuánto debieron sufrir estos niños en manos incorrectas sin embargo, el verdadero amor de un padre por sus hijos es mucho más grande ya que este lucho durante 9 años para recuperar a sus hijos.

Espero que la puedan ver, es muy hermosa esta historia para reflexionar un poco sobre la vida, la recomiendo ampliamente.
