Making a scary face with locally grown pumpkin
It's that Halloween time of year again and my children were keen to make a super scary pumpkin face. Even scarier than the one we made last year they said. So we trundled down to the far end of our village where we had planted some seeds in the spring. Our garden is only so big and there is plenty of space around here if one looks. The village mayor doesn't mind at all.
We counted ten pumpkins here a few weeks ago but today there was only one left! I had intended to give a few away to friends but apparently the village helped themselves first. That's fine. We planted them here with an open heart.
Before we picked the one remaining pumpkin we had a little scout around and found these pomegranates growing next to the car park.
Needless to say I bagged a few to make juice.
We sat for a little while with baby cat, who almost always comes with us on our adventures these days.
Esteban sang us a song.
While Luna found some 21st century litter.
Once that was done, Esteban climbed up to fetch the prize.
It wasn't quite fully ripe but I didn't care. This one was for the children to have fun with and in fact we still have two left in our garden ;)
Great to see some baby ones still growing, though I don't think they will make it beyond the first frost which isn't all that far now.
Back home along the canal we went, introducing baby cat to some new views.
Posing for a quick photo before heading indoors.
The pumpkin was a bit flat to be able to create the face in the usual way, so I cut a slice from the bottom, enabling it to stand upright.
This gave me much more space to work with.
We watched a few youtube vids before we started and had already established that the teeth would be created from this bit we cut out for the mouth.
They were connected with tooth picks.
Starting to look pretty scary now.
Especially scary when the lights go out!
We put the candles behind the eyes in the end as this seemed the most effective place.
I noticed Luna's magic eye glowing red in this shot when my phone randomly decided to use a flash.
It has been a long time since I last used a flash and was curious to see this effect more clearly so I asked her to stand still for a moment and look at the camera while I shot another image. As you can see, the difference between the two eyes is remarkable and it has been noted that pictures with a flash give away her superpower quite quickly.
For those of you not aware, Luna sees the world in a different way through her magic eye. The movement is constricted and it remains constantly dilated, like the eyes of a person who has taken psychedelics. A condition no doctor has ever been able to shed light on for us. Even yesterday she spent the day at a hospital where she confused yet another doctor who ultimately told us nothing useful. As she gets older I am able to better communicate with her and can confirm now that she sees colours at night, often prompting her to get out of bed and walk around the house in pitch black darkness. This actually reminds me of Esteban's experience seeing Lightballs floating around his bed a few years ago and I suppose I should not be surprised that like her brother, she has abilities which go beyond the understanding of your average doctor.
Anyway, that's that. We made a pumpkin face and put it here while we all made scary noises together ;)
Finally we put it above our letter box where each night I make sure to light some new candles.
Esteban & Luna particularly enjoyed how the wax drips from the mouth after a while, making it look extra scary, exactly as promised ;)
I wonder what Halloween is REALLY about? Obviously I could google the answer but something tells me this will only give half truths.
Thoughts anyone?
Love & Light 🌱
It is rather an angry face to me. I do not find it scary.
To be honest, this is scary/frightening. I was born and live with multiple disabilities (for example autism spectrum disorder), including multiple visual impairments (mostly because of retinopathy of prematurity). I met a few people with disabilities, and I also heard about many disabled people, but I have not heard anything like this so far.
When we first discovered it we did have a fair bit of fear. We were in an A&E within half an hour in fact! But since then she has had an MRI which showed no abnormalities and we continue to see doctors on a regular basis to monitor progress. And every time they confirm there has been no change. So rather than being frightened by this thing (which is not so much a disability but something which makes her different) I choose to look for ways in which it can work as an advantage for her. Am in no doubt she sees things we don't and it is my job to help her develop this skill.
And I suppose beyond this it is worth noting that people with disabilities can quite often shine in ways that normal people cannot. Steven Hawkins jumps to mind as a pretty good example. I don't know the story of his childhood but I suspect he had loving parents who taught him to work beyond the limitations of his physical body.
If I consider/take into account only the ability to see the colors in pitch black darkness, then this is indeed an ability and an advantage, rather than a disability. I just hope that nothing wrong will happen to her in long term. The fact (or at least the thought) that she may be the only one (in the whole world) with this ability is still scary/frightening. And also who knows what else she see that we (or rather no one else) do not. This thought is also scary/frightening.
But I do not want to scare/frighten you. She indeed has some kind of gift. At least according to the current state of things.
We are indeed not this physical body. We are just/only in it. We are just/only using it (temporarily).
There is proof for this. Literally thousands of NDEs (Near-Death Experiences). Maybe you already heard this phrase.
I often check the website of NDERF You can read thousands of NDEs on it, and it is being constantly/regularly updated.
I give you some !PIZZA and !LUV.
Have a nice day and have a nice weekend.
All the best. Greetings from Hungary.

Personally I find it exciting to think she might be the only one in the world with this exact condition. I also find it fascinating that unlike her brother who seems a bit afraid of the dark, she is brave enough to wander around the house at night and I think she would tell me if she was seeing things which didn't make her feel good. We have woken up a few times and she is just standing there looking at us. That was a bit freaky to be honest! But not for her. She seems totally calm and just likes to look at things in the dark. Yes, maybe things will change in the future but maybe they won't? It is what it is until it isn't.
I read a wonderful book some years ago which described the NDE of a neurosurgeon, Eben Alexander. The book was called Proof of Heaven. It was extremely interesting and did indeed provide proof as indicated, though I would personally shy away from labelling it as heaven due to the religious overtones of this word. So I am in no doubt about our temporary stay in these physical bodies and am consistently excited about the wider implications of what it means to be a conscious being.
Many thanks for the pizza & luv!
Have a brother with a rare condition of autism. I love people who are rewired differently.
Let's call them superpowers!
Very scary, you guys! Happy Samhain : ))

What the Samhain? Obviously I had to look it up now ;)
Many thanks for the LUV!
Very cool post about the kids and their pumpkin. They did a good job!
Appreciated! Without them I would certainly not find the motivation for this kind of stuff. They absolutely love it :)
Lovely time with the kids! That baby cat is quite extraordinary to go out with you all.
No! Don’t find out about the origin of Halloween. I once had an invitation to join all the witches in other dimension on Halloween night! That was a blast of weird witches’ party with water park in the middle of the big castle and all kinds of weird looking creatures coming to join the party. They all noticed that I was a the only human in their place. Luckily I was invited by quite a high ranking witch master; he was very kind to me but I decided that I wouldn’t go to their party again. Parallel universe or reality is something I used to jump about a lot during my college years. Now, I am trying to go beyond my limitation but it ain’t easy.
Luna’s hidden abilities will need time to grow and develop further. It took me years of quiet meditation and emptying ‘oneself’ from time to time to be able to be surprised by my hidden gifts. Life is still mysterious to me!lol
Very interesting what you describe. And what a privilege to have had! So what does that mean? It's party time for the monsters as well? Google talks about the celebration of harvest time so I am wondering now if perhaps it is celebrating the harvest of human souls? The elite love to get us celebrating things we don't fully understand in a way that somehow benefits them.
Am excited to guide Luna as she grows and I do appreciate the very real reminder that it may indeed take many years for her to develop. No hurry ;)
It is an honour to know someone with your abilities. Thank you for always being so friendly and communicative here under my blog.
Hi!
Thanks so much for your kind reply. I think this hidden abilities are born with us. But most people didn’t nurture these from seeds to full grown plants!
I wouldn’t find truth from googling as they are all in the same gang of elites with the Great Reset goals. They played with dark energy. I expected some blood sacrificial ceremonies around the globe by these members. It’s the astrological window for their important ceremonies. Best to get rid of all these celebrations by unwitting people around the world! Energy begets energy! That’s why the need for resonance and commercial encouragement for such a custom.
Many things are better left in silence than giving its more energy. Unless you really know what you are doing and could handle the uncertainty of consequences. My curiosity almost got me into deep troubles in the past. It’s better to be walking on the lighted path with positive energy.
Looking forwards to your new piece of land.
Best.
Hey Brotha! You're such an awesome Dad! I was so into this story. It was like going on an adventure. Firstly the pomegranates? They look like they might have a deliciously sour taste? Do they? I remember detoxing with a lunch smoothie that had beet root, apple, ginger and pomegranate.
I went to the French Charente in 2018 with a US navy veteran, film maker, photographer, who was knighted in France by the pineau comity. He is also known as the sultan of cognac. Actually a publisher, he happened to write the first book on distilleries, the process of making pineau, the grapes etc. and a story about the tradition and the people making it. A seriously funny retired army guy, actually navy, who cracks a joke about literally everything in the room. It's hard to stop yourself from breaking out in tear laughing or just randomly cracking up because he's up to mischiefs at a random gas station. Best thing is. I mean the dude really kept his kid alive. Helping to clear his old house he was selling there, I found a lot of treasures amongst his books. It was a truly profound experience to be there. The Background of your pictures reminded me so much of the buildings there. Castles, La Charente, knights, or should I write Chevalier. I made a Butternut pumpkin dish last night with a bit of carrots, spring onions, garlic with various mushrooms, mustard and thyme. I doused it with a bit of white wine and added coconut milk. Instead of coconut milk, one can just blend some sunflower seeds in water and add that to make it creamy.
21st century litter? lol. Great way to describe it. Come across them everywhere here. It seems to be the same people who dispose of burger king trash. I wonder if there's a relationship?
Esteban singing a song next to that cat it an epic shot. Knowing your videos I wonder what accent Luna and Esteban pick up. It's so great that they can grow up bilingual. Is it more of a British accent?
Your story gets really exciting when it builds up before Esteban goes for the pumpkin treasure.
I have really never seen anyone make a Halloween pumpkin like that! What fun. The teeth! Very creative. So far you and your team win the best jack-o'-lantern prize, unless I see a better one. I don't think I will.
Btw. Did you give the cat a name?
Luna definitely has your superpowers! They both have a bit of you and Sabrina.
That wax drop is legendary! I am going to have to bite that. ;) Drooling jack-o'-lantern.
I think you figured you what halloween is really about by redefining it for me!
This post made my day!
Am so pleased you enjoyed this journey with us :)
Yes, the pomegranates picked from the lower levels of the tree are green on the outside (less sun) and therefore extremely sour. Almost impossible to drink without some kind of sweetener in fact. I discovered recently that once mixed with a small amount of sugar & water and blended with bananas it makes the most incredible drink, which all the family enjoy. That detox smoothie you mention sounds amazing and it reminds me that I must still buy a decent juicer!
Great you were able to spend some time here with your friend. He sounds like fun. Thanks for the creamy sunflower seeds tip! Love that idea.
Actually both Esteban & Luna have pretty strong english accents but the way in which they order their words is very french. So it's like their first language is french but they translate it directly in their mind, which as you know, doesn't always make sense in english. Don't think they have an english accent when speaking french but I would need to check with Sabrina on that one! Luna still speaks in a very cute way. She can't create that classic french R sound from the back of the throat, and replaces it with more of a W sound. I really must get some sound recordings of her talking because it warms the heart to hear it. Even the eye doctor the other day was totally in love with her and I felt like he kept us there for longer just because he enjoyed chatting with her!
The cat has now had three names and I am getting confused so tend to just call him baby cat. Not sure what's going on with that? Roger was the last one. Pronounced with a french accent ;)
Many thanks for the best jack-o'-lantern prize! lol
Beautiful
Family moments are really amazing moments.
I am sure you had a nice time.
Yes we did! I think we will be making another one today in fact...
All the best :)
Love it, such a joyous post, there is nothing better that being creative with our children xxxx
And yes, Luna has a super power indeed xxx
You know it! Am looking forward to posting what they look like all dressed up in their halloween outfits ;)
Sending hugs x

What a lovely entertaining post! I am missing my 2 grandchildren (Roman 8 and Millie 6) so it was a pleasure to participate with you in your family trip to retrieve the pumpkin and ultimately make it into a very super scary jack o'lantern.
Your children are beautiful and the family love shines through in your post. The condition with Luna's "magic eye" seems very unusual and looks to have the doctors all stumped for an explanation.
Thanks for sharing your family outing with us!
Am pleased you enjoyed the ride but sorry to hear you are missing your grandchildren. My mother too (who these kind of posts are primarily designed for) is missing hers. So anything I can do to bring some light to these strangely dark & divided times is my pleasure.
Thank you for your kind words and I wish you all the best!
Love that pumpkin and all these pictures and stories.
Your amazibg kids add another dimension to any photograph taken of them :^)
Appreciated Vincent. There is something quite enjoyable about putting these posts together too. The recent purchase of a phone with decent camera has helped a lot!
I totally get that. I forgot to get myself a pumpkin but I did watch the very first Halloween movie that night ( John Carpenter, 1978 ) together with my guest: 'Vin Diesel'.
