Luckiest Girl Alive

I know I'm late to the game but guess what, at least I'm still playing in the league. I know it might be late or I might be the last person to watch the Netflix movie LUCKIEST GIRL ALIVE but at least give the credit for watching. I spent my night staying glued to my screen and trying to figure out the concept behind the lead actress's actions and decisions. I'm like what in heaven what is she thinking about when she decided to take the life of her defender and what is the justification for this action?

It either you leave it or you accept that the movie was completely twisted and there is just something that is definitely not adding up. I was completely surprised by the twist in an event or how things played out. But nonetheless, I wasn't too surprised by how things worked out but if you remember, movies are movies, and never underestimate the outplay of things.

Ani as a grown woman

Well, it's time I give an intro into what the Luckiest Girl Alive is all about.

Luckiest Girl Alive is an American movie based on the actual novel written by Jessica Knoll. It talks about the life of a lady who experienced rape and yet had to apologize to her own rapist. If this isn't the highest twist of all, then please tell me what is. The movie or if you choose to take it, the book, talks about the life of Ani, a strong independent woman, who has grown into becoming a phenomenal writer at an all-women magazine. The lady, Ani has grown into becoming a woman who is filled with ambitions, dreams, and most importantly, career goals. She has a career goal of becoming a prominent writer at the New York Times, one of the most prestigious news outlets for writing and reading.

It doesn't stop there, she also betrothed to a young man with a promising career and most attractively, from a wealthy family. It goes to tell one or the viewers that this individual is finally a member of the elite class and in words, I like to refer to she's rolling with the big league.

Ani in High School

But here is where the twist comes into play, she is still traumatized by the happenings in her past. A part of her still remains hung up on what happened to her during her time in high school, where she got a scholarship to attend the school all because of her amazing writing capacity. So, I will completely accept that is the kind of lady other ladies aspire to be like, admire, and men respect but little do they all know she's really suffering from low self-esteem. In my opinion, who can blame her?

We are all hunted by the past deeds we probably have committed or unfortunately found ourselves involved in, and unconditionally we still constantly wish it never happened or we could erase it. Deep down, if we are completely being honest with our innermost subconscious, it still eats us up slowly when we constantly try to deny it and deviate from the fact it actually happened, what can we do about it?

After a traumatic experience

Sadly, this was the position, the character Ani played by Mila Kunis found herself locked in between. It was so sad to see how a well-established lady can still be traumatized from a past occurrence she has kept buried within herself desperately. If I was asked to give my take, well which is what I am currently doing with this review, I would say it's all a give-and-take situation and what Ani was given was pain and what she was also taking was more pain. The hardest part coming from the movie was how she stayed muted about the true existence of what happened and how she was raped but yet couldn't talk about it, which left her with no other option but to apologize to her very own rapist. Damn, this is so twisted.

She completely had me from the very start by being all sympathetic to the unfortunate incident she got tangled up in, then it all changed with the event of things playing out before my very own eyes, and all of a sudden, I became a fan once again. So if you take my word for it, that's the power of a very intellectual movie for everyone to relate to.
Being raped is simply an unspeakable act that shouldn't be talked about and punished if it happens. Yeah, I might be getting all sentiment with the rape thing but that is how it should be. It is not justified and it doesn't come short in any way in my head. Well, when you get to watch the movie, you would know exactly what I am saying.

Ani didn't only get to live the trauma and psychological effect of rape, but she had to live every single day of her life with the thought of being the person responsible for a shooting that occurred in her school. Call me out if I am wrong, but come on, this is totally unfair even for an animal, talk more of a human being.

This made her more angry, depressed and above all, traumatized by the thought of sex and the pleasure that comes with it. It's devastating to think for a moment that even the shooting which acts as her limelight into stardom was simply an end product of her rape and bullying happening in her high school.
Oops!!!!!
I think I have spilled some official spoilers. Please pardon me and I feel it is high time I call it a truce with this review in order not to spill more.

All I can conclude with is to tell you to go ahead and watch the movie and I am open to some debate or some clash of opinions in the comment section.
Until then, see you next time.

This movie looks interesting as it may but surprisingly or unsurprisingly I haven't seen it nor have I heard of it, hehehe. The reason why I will love to see this movie is to know why Ani was raped and she had to be traumatized for so long.

Well, for other things that I will love to see and the kind of articles she writes and how she rates then if possible, maybe I can get some answers from there too.

I personally liked this movie a lot, I started to see it twice, yes, but the beginning of the movie seemed a bit silly to me, but then I saw some recommendations and I was encouraged to watch it and I ended up enjoying it.

I saw this movie. I think it was quite interesting and it went out to show how much a traumatic event can impact a person's life. I'm glad in the end she was able to face her demons.

I join the club of those who have yet to see this movie my friend hahaha.

Although the story is a bit unpleasant, but it would be interesting to see how it all ends, good review mate.
