Keeping it Smart & Simple: Minimalism at Work
Hello everyone,
The month of September seems to be running very fast. Maybe just in my opinion I guess. I think of the year as one I wish to pass by quickly so maybe that's why I tend to look at it that way.
My life is centered around the "Chess board" - what that means is technically all the things I do, friends I have are related to the game of chess. I think that's what happens you've been playing for a long time.
Omg! It's been 3 years already!
I used to coach kids alongside my newly onboarded friend @iammanythings1 as a job, However for a long time(more than. 2 years), I haven't worked because of a lot of things.
Recently, @iammanythings1 wrote about one of his coaching sessions - I was supposed to be part of this, But I had a chess competition to attend at that same time.
This week's prompt ask us to share our minimalist practices in our workplace. As usual, I like the topic, It's something I can relate to and there are few things I can introduce ahead of my resumption back to coaching kids.
I have always coached kids in schools because of the love of the game. In fact I make more on Hive and small-scale crypto jobs that actually physical chess coaching.
Its a work I like and getting back to it woukd be fun and applications of a few practices might bring more joy and comfort to it.
Time Management / To-do list.
I love to keep to time especially when going to work. I love to be there early so I'm fully rested before teaching however, sometimes because i didnt plan my time well, I get late or at the exact time my class is meant to start.
I teach for only one hour twice or three times a week and it always look easy. In fact the only stress is that the schools are usually far from my home.
I wish to apply a time-table that would see me at work at a certain time and off work too.
I know I'm always early but now I don't just want to be a minute or 5 minutes early, I want to plan for a particular time frame before teaching. For example, getting to every 2pm class by 1:30pm. With a particular time frame, I can plan my other activities to fit into this time routine.
Teaching Methods - Preparation
In the past, I used to teach kids from my head. I usually don't prepare before every class, I just continue from where I stopped the previous class.
I'm always like "It an hour class, why should I prepare" Truth is, Preparation makes the job easier but I tend to skip this little information.
It doesn't take much to prepare and I intend to do that often. Prepare for weeks ahead, make the job easier for myself.
A scheme of work would be a very good introduction for myself and even for the kids.
In Conclusion...
Here are few things I'd like to add to my work as I hope to resume soon. I hope I make it happen and see how this practices helps make the work easier.
I am @samostically,I love to talk and write about chess because i benefited alot from playing chess. sometimes i share my thoughts on life in general and i write about my love for hive!
I love to engage with others and i love communication. I believe life is all about staying happy and maintaining peace.
