Hello everyone, I'm so happy to write again today. These days I cherish every moment I spend because anything can happen at any time. It's always good to be positive and enjoy the perks that come with Life.

I love chess so much and I've learned alot from the game. In the past, I used to relate everything in my life to chess but at some point, I stopped. Today, in this article I've decided to share some Hive tips which can be gotten from the game of chess. This post would explain why the great Bobby Fisher once said "Chess is Life". I hope this helps you get a lot more interested in the game and also helps you grow on Hive.

Discover & Learn About The Game of Chess

To become a very good chess player, You need to first discover and learn about the game. Nobody ever became a master overnight, There must certainly be a learning process. The same way it is on Hive, You need to Discover and Learn about Hive and how the Blockchain works. There isn't a shortcut, Learning is the first process in being a strong chess player, It is also the first process in understanding and starting your Hive Journey

Don't Know where to start? You can check this Newbies guide which is a collection of posts that can help you learn about Hive and how the Blockchain works.

Begin With A Pawn Move

untitled.gif

"Sometimes a Pawn is enough to change the whole game and those who ignore the importance of it, are liable to lose their Queen." - Sandeep Sharma

During my chess coaching lessons, I usually advise my kids to begin with a pawn move. One, It helps you bring other stronger pieces to the game while secondly, A center pawn move helps you control the center.

Note The pawn is the smallest piece with the least value on the Chessboard. When you start with a pawn, you start small. On Hive, It is important you start small. You don't have to post every day, You can start small. 2 to 3 posts per week, finding a niche and getting recognized with your engagements. Your big pieces will eventually come out... in Due Time.

Be Strategic

" Even a poor plan is better than no plan at all.”

Ah, Being strategic in chess is very important. You can't win if you don't outsmart your opponent. You have to create a plan, and work towards it, If it succeeds, you win. If you also notice the plan is about to fail, you need to quickly make another plan. GOOD STRATEGY WINS IN CHESS.

On Hive, You need to plan. Plan to attend Meetings, Plan to be engaging. Time for making posts. Time for your Hive activities in general. And if you notice a clash with your outside life, Then I'ts time to make another plan just like chess.

Time Factor - Be Patient

In every chess game, you have a time assigned to both players. In a classical chess match, Each player gets over two hours each and when you factor that the timers gets increments, it might be more. I Once played a game that lasted Six hours!

It's important for every chess player to understand the time factor. Don't rush in the beginning of games. Take your time to think and make good moves. It's is frustrating to lose because you didn't consider some things you might have seen if you took more time.

On Hive you have to be patient, There are good times and sometimes not so good. It might be frustrating in the beginning, But there's always light at the tunnel. Look at the chess clock! It just got started and there is enough time!

Don't Give Up

To be a great Chess player, you have to take many loses. No one ever became good by winning everytime. On Hive, It a principle you need to understand if you are just getting started. I know it's a bit frustrating to have $0.00 on your posts all the time. Trust me, don't give up. There is a light. You could be a Grand Master Someday!

"Nobody ever won a chess game by resigning.” – Savielly Tartakower

In Conclusion

This are 5 Lessons from the game of chess that would help you on Hive. I hope you learn the game of chess and derive more Hive and life lessons from there.

That’s what chess is all about. One day you give your opponent a lesson, the next day he gives you one.” – Bobby Fischer.

Interesting game of Chess. I still remember playing it several times when I was a college student. Despite my visual impairment I could play it with my classmates and I taught many of them the basic rules of the game and the moves of each piece. It was a great time.
Thanks @samostically for sharing your chess knowledge with all of us.

You gave a perfect analogy and comparison in this piece.

There is more to chess than playing for fun, fame or for money. You could actually apply these amazing techniques, strategies and knowledge you've garnered while learning and playing chess, to real life situations. And that is what you've brilliantly given us here by comparing it with Hive.

The 5 lessons are apt and necessary for one to progress and be successful on Hive.

The part I agree with the most is thinking strategically. Strategy is very important in this game and in life too. If you have a great strategy you will eventually win. As long as you don't make huge mistakes.

I like how you relate the moves of chess with hive. It takes work, time and strategy to win a chess game and so does it here. It takes work and determination.

Thanks for the encouragement.
I might even play some chess game today😂😂😂

Wow... I guess you missed The Queens Gambit part. You don't know about it ?
It's an interesting part of playing chess , I never knew how to play chess until 3weeks to my hostel interested series championship in UNN where I registered to play chess... And I was able to get the silver medal, out of 32 contestants. I met 6 and beat 5... Losing to the defending champion.
Yep it took me three weeks to buy the board , download some apps and learnt basic chess moves and skills.

I only credit the silver winning to the Queens Gambit move. I was able to check mate 2 opponents after 5 moves and the other 3 with less than 15 moves.
