We’d always wanted a dog. We’d finally decided we’d deffo be up for the idea when we got the call. A friend of a friend had a 10 month old Rottweiler that needed rehoming. That was a year ago today. Here’s Dandy (then called Sandy) on her first day with us.

Turns out I also had a surprise kitten due that very week. Here’s Pig (then unnamed) on his first day with us.

Getting a kitten and a puppy in the same week with no prior experience of either is probably not advised but with lockdown still in full force I had plenty of time to raise these little babies and make them a part of our little family.

Dandy was pretty nervous but had a lot of love to give, she’d already had two homes in her short life and was living in a pretty cramped flat before she came to us.

We were terrified to introduce the pair of him, he, the scrawny runt of the litter, her, this hulking great dog. It seemed like she could just destroy him if she wanted.

When they finally met though they got on just fine although they generally stay out of each others way they do have some moments of true intimacy.

My phone reminded me that is was a year ago today and so I’ve been struck with sentimentality over this last year and how it’s been.

We’ve been through a neutering and a spaying, hundreds of walks, scores of friends, lots of naps, loads of balls, plenty of cuddles, a couple of vomits, a few too many shits, and I wouldn’t change them for anything.

What a lovely dog! Ive never had a Rottweiler before but they look super playful. The 2nd to last picture is a funny one 🤣

Honestly she's the sweetest thing! I've had people cross the road from her before because they think she looks scary but she loves a stroke and all people!

Strange how some folk react to certain dogs. We have 2 huskies and the amount of people who call them wolves is hilarious. They’re the softest dogs I’ve ever had!
