South Africa vs Srilanka // 2nd ODI Match
The 2nd ODI match of series was played between South Africa vs Srilanka yesterday at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. South Africa beat Srilanka by 67 runs and levelled the 3 match ODI series by 1-1. The 3rd match will be the series decider. So next match will be very interesting.
South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first. South Africa have started very well. Aiden Markram has gone for 21 runs then Reeza Hendricks came out and made 96 runs partnership with Janneman Malan. Janneman Malan played an outstanding innings and scored 121 runs in 13t balls including 9 fours and a six. Reeza Hendricks scored 51 runs in 54 balls including 5 fours. Heinrich Klaasen played an attacking innings. He scored 43 runs in 27 balls including 4 fours and a six. Finally South Africa scored total 283 runs by 6 wickets.
Lankan bowlers couldn't perform like first match in 2nd match. Chamika Karunaratne picked up two wickets for 24 runs in 5 overs. Dushmantha Chameera also picked up two wickets. Wanindu Hasaranga and Dhananjaya de Silva each took one wicket.
In reply Srilanka have lost their top orders early and faced huge pressure to chase down the big target. Charith Asalanka played a good innings and scored 77 runs in 69 balls including 5 fours and 3 sixes. Chamika Karunaratne an attacking innings of 36 runs in 23 balls including a four and two sixes. Dasun Shanaka scored 30 runs in 41 balls including 2 fours. But others batsman totally failed to play a good iinnings to chase down the target. Finally Srilanka all out for only 197 runs.
Proteas bowlers performed really well. Tabraiz Shamsi picked up 5 wickets for 49 runs in 7.4 overs. Pacer Kagiso Rabada picked up two wickets for 16 runs in 6 overs. Wiaan Mulder, Keshav Maharaj, George Linde each picked up one wicket. Janneman Malan was player of the match for his brilliant innings.
