Finding Love With Coffee || STB #66
"TGIF", I saw a message pop up on my phone screen. It was sent by my best friend Tosin. I rolled my eyes as I quickly sent a thumbs-up emoji back to her.
TGIF is an acronym for Thank God It's Friday, this expression is mostly used by workers who can't wait for weekends when they can relax and take a break from work. Most people use this as a time to go out and have fun, go on dates, and many more.
Some years back I wouldn't say that I am looking forward to the weekends because aside from it allowing me to take a break from work, I have nowhere else to be. My friends are always having fun going out on dates with their partners while I am always alone at home.
I sat down at home one weekend, took my laptop and settled for watching a movie while sipping my cup of coffee. As I continued watching the movie, there was a scene where people were going on dates, smiling sheepishly at each other.
"Why are they all smiling?", I asked no one in particular, suddenly feeling what I could perceive as anger rise in me or would I call it jealousy? I decided to change the movie and watch another. This one was a bit interesting. In the movie, there was a scene that involved a show where people answered questions to win some prizes.
I enjoyed the way the contestants answered the questions and the round of applause that followed immediately from the audience. I took another sip of my coffee as I began to imagine myself being in the show. Crazy right? Well, I don't have anywhere else to be so let's go with the flow.
So I imagine it to be a blind dating show with 3 male contestants all vying for the position of being the love of my life. But that can only be possible if they could pass the questions I ask them or better still, the one with the correct answers to my question emerges as the winner.
So let's get to the questions, shall we?
How well do you like coffee?
As a coffee lover, I will listen intently to their response. How often they take it and the ways they love preparing it. Their responses to this question were good but I love the second contestant's answer to my question. He talked about how coffee is part of his daily self-care routine and he also prefers taking his coffee black and steamy.
"Hmmmm, this is getting interesting" I said to myself. I am trying to ignore the fact that he is tall with a rich brown skin color like that of a coffee. I bet he even smells like one. But No, let's focus on the questions.
Why do you love coffee? What are the benefits of taking coffee?
Of course, anyone who truly loves coffee should know it has lots of benefits. Coffee helps keep me alert, it helps me relieve stress. It increases my level of productivity and many more.
The first contestant gave me two benefits, the second gave me six benefits and the third contestant also gave me six benefits but the seco contestants explained very well by giving examples. Wow! More points for the second contestant.
If there are no coffee shops/stores around you, what will you do to get your daily cup of coffee?
If they love coffee as much as I do, then they would look for means to always make coffee available to them. In cases like this, I would do research on where I could get coffee beans, if it's very far from me, I would make sure I get as many kinds that will last me for a very long time and store them in coffee jars, then get a mini coffee machine, so I can always get my daily cup of coffee.
Well anyone that can give a similar answer to this is close to winning the contest and you guessed right, the second contestant gave a similar response to the question.
So without further ado, contestant number 2 got more points than the others placing him as the winner of the contest. He came out of the booth and walked towards me and as he smiled at me, I couldn't help but giggle like a high school girl who just got noticed by her crush.
He took my hand in his and I felt a spark as my body warmed up to his touch. I smiled as I watched him raise both our hands together as the audience gave us a round of applause.
"Grrrrnnnnggg, Grrrnnnnggg", a loud noise jolted me back to reality and I realized that I must have fallen asleep. I angrily picked up my phone and before I could say hello.
"Buy your 10 GB worth of data for as low as .... ", I hung up and hissed very lou .y.. I can't believe this network provider decided to use this moment to interrupt my beautiful dream.
"I need to go out more", I whispered out loud. I can't continue to stay at home and keep feeling sorry for myself. I decided right there that I will be going out tomorrow and who knows maybe just maybe my coffee lover is out there waiting for me.
Too bad it was just a dream, I liked that they were chatty and nice, you had good choices, mine were very dry when it came to responding, but I was in reality it was not a dream. 😁
😀😀😀 thank you so much for reading.
Sometimes it happens that we want some things but we don't do something meaningful to achieve it, something like that happens to me in couple matters. Surely if the protagonist of this story goes out more often she will have a better chance of finding a partner and if that person loves coffee as much as she does, that will be icing on the cake.
I agree. Going out to interact with people might just make her dreams come true.
Thank you for stopping by.
Thank you so much for having me.
It sounds seductive to have 3 options to choose from, there are some who have to try their luck to see if they are the chosen ones, but love is the reason, love makes the world go round!!!
I couldn't agree more. Thank you for your time here.
