Chicken Pastil in a Jar: I'm Late With the Trend But I Finally Try Chicken Pastil and I Ate It with Fried Rice and Dried Fish
Watching food vlogs is something I consider really entertaining. That's why I always watch a food vlog, or those vloggers that feature different cuisine from different places. I also watched cooking vlogs from different vloggers and some mukbangers, but I am limiting myself now doing that because I felt like I was just torturing myself. Like, I watched them just to end up having a growling stomach later, lol. But thanks to them too, we can have a new food discovery that we could try. But still, I just watch them from time to time. How about you?
Is it last year? Or this year? I can't remember much about the date, but chicken pastil went viral in the Philippines at that time. I think most of the vloggers featured chicken pastil, and thanks to that, it reached our place too - about the info about it, bot the real thing, sadt, huhu. I'm sure this is already well known even before, especially for the cheap price you can already have it, which can fill anyone's stomach. But it is only that time, that it reach that information to me. I've had no idea about chicken pastil before. I never see that at our place either.
What I saw when they featured chicken pastil was rice wrapped in banana leaves while the chicken pastil was placed on top of it. It's actually good food, enough to satisfy anyone's hunger. It could be a snack or breakfast. Well, I think this can be eaten at any time. What I liked when they featured chicken pastil was the way they wrapped them together with rice on banana leaves. No plastic or whatever, but banana leaves. Isn't it more awesome that way?
When I saw this being featured by every vlogger in the Philippines, I couldn't help but get jealous, because we don't have that here. Well, we can maybe try making our own version, but seeing the preparation and how they cook it, it will take a lot of time and also gas. If only I could travel to Mindanao to try the authentic chicken pastil ಥ‿ಥ. Too sad, I don't have the power to do that right now. Yes, according to Google, chicken pastil originates from Mindanao. I'm so sad this didn't reach us. But I'm not sure if we have a chicken pastil version in Oriental Mindoro.
Anyway, we can't have the authentic chicken pastil, but we have other ways to try it. Maybe try the one that they sell online? It may not be the authentic one, but I'm sure it's not very far from the original. And we just happened to receive a gift from Mommy D's nephew, which is, luckily, a chicken pastil, the one that I've been craving for a very long time now.
It is in a small bottle jar, and as you can see, it is a spicy chicken pastil. I thought chicken pastil was dry but more oily. But this one we got is like an "adobo," style still oily but not too much, it's a bit watery, and putting it on top of the rice will give it more flavor when the wet chicken pastil spreads its juices on the rice. I like it as a side dish, but it is also good as the main course.
I'm not sure if the original is salty, but this one is lightly salty. But maybe it is just to give this chicken pastil more life. Putting a little bit of it on rice is already enough to eat one serving of rice. It is so good that we almost finish one jar in one day, lolol. Then, with the little spiciness in it, that gives more flavor to this chicken pastil. I have nothing to compare this to, but this won't be the last time that we'll be trying it.
I saw some chicken pastil on Shoppee, so I'll try that too, not now but soon. Chicken Pastil is super duper yummy if you pair it with fried rice, eggs, and dried fish. It's super good, you'll eat a lot of it, for sure.
So anyone here who has already tried chicken pastil? How's the chicken pastil in your area? Is it good? Maybe crispy? Or a little bit watery?

We call it chicken pater here in the Mindanao and it's very delicious. As a student, ito yung madaling kainin sa tanghalian lalo na pag nasa school kayo tas hindi na nakapag-baon hahahah. Budget friendly din.

I unfortunately haven't tried this one yet hahahaha, but my friends say that it tastes good. 🤤 Pater yata ang tawag dito sa 'min, I'm not sure.

I have never heard of chicken pastil before but yeah, it looks great.
In my country. It is quite common to use plantain leaf as plate in some dishes but not Banana leaf.

It is really basically just shredded chicken with some spices. I bet you can also make it if you search the ingredients used in this🤩😊😊.
Same here in our place, and it is so much better no. We also use that in a boodle fight, like putting all the foods in it then eat thet with everyone.
That's whats sad when we watch food vlogs from other country. The lack of ingredients is the number one problem 😆😆
