A Very Unique Sakura Tree
While out the other day taking pictures of all the blossoming sakura trees I came across this incredible hybrid tree.
It appeared to be a cross between two different types of sakura, one that produces the lighter pink flowers and one that produces the hot pink colored flowers.
In my many years in Japan I have never seen anything like it. Iw was easily one of the most beautiful trees I've seen because of the combination of colors and patterns the blossoms produced.
I was particularly fond of the whiter blossom with the various pink in them. Those colors made me think of candy for some reason.
The tree was in a pot beside a shop that was being remodeled. So it belonged to someone, probably the shop owner, but left outside for everyone to appreciate.
Looking back now I regret not taking more pictures of it, but I was focused on the road behind it lined with trees I'll blog about later. This just happened to be something I stumbled upon while out and about.
Have you heard of a cross breeding of this type before? I would love to own one of these beautiful trees so if you know what it is please leave a comment.
Here is the road I was on that I'll write about next time, Kunitachi's Sakura Dori, Sakura avenue.
