POLLUTION
What are the major causes of pollution in your area? Are they vehicles, industries, or just humans? Suggest ways in which this can be rectified..

Clean water is a big challenge in my area and this is usually cause by the polluted rivers.
Water pollution is the dirtying of water that causes a chemical, physical, or biological change in the water's condition, making it detrimental to anyone who uses it. To put it another way, pollution renders water unsafe to drink.

Oftentimes, I have to either boil the water before using it for a bath or when so often I have to use sachet water (what we call pure water in Nigeria) to cook.
Rivers are common water sources. Water can be used in a variety of ways both at home and in the workplace. Such water must be kept clean, safe, and free of pollutants.

MAJOR CAUSES OF WATER POLLUTION IN MY AREA

The primary source of water contamination is the disposal of solid waste in water sources. The majority of these wastes are formed from plastic, which is non-biodegradable by its very nature.

It is also caused by sewage discharge from homes and businesses. Sewage can be treated or recycled in some regions, but in the majority of cases, the waste ends up in rivers. Because of the chemical compounds used to keep washrooms clean, effluent from these locations is harmful to the water sources into which it runs. As a result of the cauterization of fossil fuels, acidic particles accumulate in the air, resulting in acidic rain falling on aquatic bodies.

Another thing is the effluent from industry and manufacturers. Pollutants like lead and mercury are introduced into rivers by industrial effluent. Water contamination is caused by oil spills from ships en route. Because oil is insoluble in water, it creates thick patches on the surface, making it difficult for organisms to thrive in such a body of water. Overall, tainted water harms the ecology.

THE WAY THIS CAN BE RECTIFIED

  • By using specified dumping places, people should use less plastic and avoid littering.

  • Farmers and homeowners should utilize environmentally friendly fertility enhancers like animal faeces instead of chemicals like fertilizers.

  • People should drive less and use public transportation wherever possible to reduce emissions into the environment, as cars produce particles that cause acidic rain.

  • Existing water pollution legislation should be enforced by relevant authorities, and individuals who contaminate water should face even harsher penalties.

How is People driving less and using public means of transportation a way to reduce pollution? Most of the commercial vehicles are the ones that pollute the environment because the vehicles are most times not in good condition besides there aren't enough commercial vehicles to carry humans if everyone should drop their cars

If for instances, where you're going to is nearby, you take commercial bus. Cos the more vehicle that releases smoke into the Air, cars releases emissions that can cause acidic rain. So less vehicles.. less emissions. Hope you get the point now?

Existing water pollution legislation should be enforced by relevant authorities, and individuals who contaminate water should face even harsher penalties.

The above is very important if eradication or reduction of pollution is to be taken achieved. Nice article.

Exactly dear. In the south-south region, the rivers have become dumping sites for all kinds of waste. This is very saddening.

Another thing I didn't remember to add, the people living there needs to be educated as well. On environmental and health management.

When the water is polluted, everything suffers for it. The aquatic life that lives in it, the animals that need to drink it, and the humans that use it for basically everything. It is up to us to make sure that our water is clean and good enough to be used by all forms of life. Until then, things will only keep getting worse.
Thank you for sharing this with us.

Yes, we can help with the little we can. Possibly help to educate the people on health and environmental management as well.
