A beautiful town bathed in sun and salt 🌅 Un hermoso pueblo bañado de sol y sal

A few days ago I went to take my daughter to a painting course in La Plaza de Paraguachí. This is the capital town of Antolín del Campo, municipality of Nueva Esparta state where I live. We went just in the afternoon, when its streets are lonely and only the traces of the tide of people passing by in the morning remain.

In Paraguachí, right in front of the square is the seat of the mayor's office, the civil registry, a house of culture and the Catholic temple, a beautiful building dating from the sixteenth century. Also surrounding the square are some colonial mansions that have beautiful central gardens.

It turns out that Paraguachí means in indigenous language "Abundance of locusts", name given by the first settlers of this fruitful valley. This beautiful town is located between fertile hills and mountains and was founded in 1535.

Waiting for my daughter to leave the course, sitting on a bench under a leafy tree, I remembered how happy I was in my childhood in the surroundings of Paraguachí and I realized its historical value and recognized its beautiful geography surrounded by the sea.

Hace unos días fui a llevar a mi hija a un curso de pintura en La Plaza de Paraguachí. Este es el pueblo capital de Antolín del Campo, municipio del estado Nueva Esparta donde vivo. Fuimos justo por la tarde, cuando sus calles están solitarias y sólo quedan las huellas de la marea de gente que pasa por la mañana.

En Paraguachí, justo enfrente de la plaza se encuentra la sede de la alcaldía, el registro civil, una casa de cultura y el templo católico, un hermoso edificio que data del siglo XVI. También rodean la plaza algunas casonas coloniales que tienen hermosos jardines centrales.

Resulta que Paraguachí significa en lengua indígena "Abundancia de langostas", nombre que le dieron los primeros pobladores de este fructífero valle. Este hermoso pueblo está situado entre fértiles colinas y montañas y fue fundado el año de 1535.

Esperando a que mi hija saliera del curso, sentada en un banco bajo un frondoso árbol, recordé lo feliz que fui en mi infancia en los alrededores de Paraguachí y me di cuenta de su valor histórico y reconocí su hermosa geografía rodeada de mar.
