Está película de ciencia ficción cuenta la historia de John Koestler un Astrofísico que es profesor de una escuela secundaria. John es viudo y tiene un hijo de nueve años llamado Caleb Koestler.
Koestler vive una vida un poco confusa y triste debido a la muerte de su esposa en un trágico accidente al quemarse el hotel donde ella se estaba hospedando.

This science fiction film tells the story of John Koestler, an astrophysicist who is a high school teacher. John is a widower and has a nine-year-old son named Caleb Koestler.
Koestler lives a confused and sad life due to the death of his wife in a tragic accident when the hotel where she was staying burned down.

50 años antes en la escuela donde estudia su hijo sepultaron una cápsula del tiempo para que generaciónes futuras supieran como las personas de ese tiempo se imaginaban como era el futuro. A cada alumno de la escuela le todo hacer una carta imaginándose como seria el futuro dentro de 50 años. Una joven estudiante llamada Lucinda de apariencia triste y nerviosa solo dibujo números en su carta.

50 years earlier, a time capsule was buried in the school where her son goes to school so that future generations would know how the people of that time imagined the future. Each student at the school was asked to write a letter imagining what the future would be like 50 years from now. But as he began to place other numbers on the letter, they indicated other disasters that had occurred in the past and the number of deaths they had left behind, so John realized that something was going on. The letter even indicated the date of the accident where his wife died. Of all the disasters listed in the letter, only three were yet to be fulfilled. Even one of them would be fulfilled the next day when eighty-one people would die.

De esa forma descubrió que los otros números representaban el lugar donde ocurriría el desastre y casualmente era su ubicación. De repente un avión se estrella en el lugar y ochenta y un personas mueren.

The next day Caleb calls him telling him that he forgot to pick him up from school. John immediately goes out to pick him up but on the way he gets stuck in a traffic jam on the highway due to a storm that was passing through. At that moment he sees on his car's GPS the location of where he is and realizes that the GPS numbers are the same ones that appeared next to the date of the next disaster.
He then discovered that the other numbers represented the place where the disaster was going to happen and happened to be his location. Suddenly a plane crashes on the spot and eighty-one people are killed.

Lo único que quedaba por hacer era contactar a la familia de Lucinda, es por ello que Jonh y Caleb van a su casa y ven que de ella sale una mujer con una niña más o menos de la edad de Caleb, ellos deciden seguirlas y entablar conversación con ellas con el objetivo de buscar información. Cuando Jonh le cuenta a la mujer el motivo de su interés ella se altera mucho y le dice que las dejé en paz porque habían sufrido mucho por causa de la locura de su madre.

Eso deja muy consternado a Caleb y se pone a dar gritos que alertan a su padre que sale persiguiendo al hombre pero no lo alcanza.
Al día siguiente cuando llega a New York percibe que las autoridades no tomaron ninguna previsión, por lo que el mismo trata de impedir que ocurra el desastre. Sospechando que era un atentado con bomba, comienza a perseguir a un sospechoso en la estación del metro pero al final solo era un ladrón. En ese instante un tren que venía llegando a la estación se descarriló destruyendo toda la estación matando a una gran cantidad de personas.

Suspecting that it was a bomb attack, he begins to chase a suspect in the subway station but in the end it was only a thief. At that moment a train arriving at the station derailed, destroying the entire station and killing a large number of people.

Lucinda's daughter seeks out Jhon in fear that something might happen to her daughter. The four of them discover that the disaster will be a solar flare that will put an end to the human race so they look for a way to survive but it is impossible.
Lucinda's daughter dies and the two children are taken away because of the strange men. John follows them and arrives at a place where Caleb and the girl are with the men. Caleb tells him not to worry that the men are beings from another world who chose them to start over the human race in another world since theirs is going to be destroyed.

In the end Caleb and the girl are taken by the aliens in a ship to another place in the universe, where they are placed on a new planet with other children in order to populate it and start all over again.

Me gustó mucho la película porque abarca todo lo que me gusta de la ciencia ficción. No sólo son los efectos especiales, sino la parte misteriosa de que no sabes lo que va pasar al final. Y considero que está película lo hizo muy bien en ese sentido.

I really liked the movie because it encompasses everything I like about science fiction. It's not just the special effects, but the mysterious part that you don't know what's going to happen in the end. And I think this movie did very well in that sense.
