Useless information #95 - The most contagious disease
Measles
"Measles is caused by the Measles morbillivirus virus. Its reproduction number (R0) is between 12 and 18 - i.e., an infected person will pass it on to an average of 15 others in unvaccinated populations.
Around 140,000 people die from the disease every year. Measles was effectively ended by vaccines in developed nations, but declining vaccination rates have seen its return. It remains a common childhood illness in less developed countries."
