Useless information #82 - Tick-borne diseases
Not just fever.
Ticks can be problematic! They're not super beautiful and nobody keeps them as pets but they have their place in nature. All good... until they bite us.
It doesn't mean we're going to get sick. Not every tick is infected.
The tick fever is well known but there are much more diseases they can carry. They are really the vehicle and not the origin of the diseases. They just facilitate the transport to virusis, parasites or more often bacteria.
For US, the CDC lists the following diseases:
- Anaplasmosis
- Babesiosis
- Borrelia miyamotoi Disease
- Colorado Tick Fever
- Ehrlichiosis
- Heartland and Bourbon Virus Diseases
- Lyme Disease
- Powassan Virus Disease
- Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever
- Rickettsia parkeri Rickettsiosis
- Tickborne Relapsing Fever
- Tularemia
- Tickborne Diseases Abroad
- Tick Bites/Prevention
- Tick Bite Prophylaxis
Avoid ticks. Tick are tricky!

In the country where I lived when I was a child, there were many nasty diseases caused by ticks for several years. Some people were dying very badly. That's why I hate bugs like ticks.
I hope the ticks do not infect anyone. Because this is really scary.
I know some people that got infected. No one died but some suffered a bit until the medics found out what was going on.
The worst part is that it's actually a very small insect and it's very hard to understand if the insect bites and infects us and then escapes. Some people might think it's just a minor injury.
