ITALY 1990 WORLD CUP ALBUM [ENG/ESP]

Hivers, I was a bit away because I was preparing this publication that I consider very special, but first I would like to send a big greeting to the Hive Collector community.

This time I want to share with you a collector's album, this time related to sports, the king of sports! The album I present to you below is the album of the World Cup held in Italy in 1990, the last World Cup of what I consider romantic soccer. At the end of the text you can see each of the pages of the album!

This album was launched to the market by the Venezuelan publishing house Reyauca that normally released soccer albums being the first one launched in 1978 and giving continuity to this project until the year 2006, later it became fashionable to collect soccer albums of the very well known publishing house Pannini.

Hivers, estuve un tanto alejado porque estaba preparando está publicación que considero muy especial, pero primero quisiera enviarle un gran saludos a la comunidad de Hive Collector.

En esta oportunidad quiero compartir con ustedes un álbum de colección, esta vez relacionado con el deporte, el deporte rey! El álbum que les presento a continuación es el álbum del mundial de fútbol celebrado en Italia en el año 1990, el último mundial del que yo considero el futbol romántico. Al final del texto podrán ver cada una de las páginas del álbum!

Este álbum fue lanzado al mercado por la editorial venezolana Reyauca que normalmente sacaba al mercado los álbumes de fútbol siendo el primero lanzado en 1978 y dándole continuidad a este proyecto hasta al año 2006, posteriormente se puso de moda coleccionar álbumes de futbol de la muy conocida editorial Pannini.

The album consists of 52 pages and 444 cards, the envelopes had three cards and I remember they had a cost of 10 bolivars. At that time there was the option of buying 2 envelopes and as a gift they gave you the album. Each packet of cards had a cost of 2 bolivars. At that time it was more complicated to fill the album because there was no sale of individual cards, which is why it was not completely filled, although only a few were missing. Curiously, Diego Armando Maradona's playing cards came out very often.

The cards are not self-adhesive as they are nowadays and are glued only on the upper part because the idea was that by lifting them you could see the player's name and surname, his position in the team's scheme of play, date of birth, as well as the club he played for at that time.

This World Cup had a very well known musical theme called "Estate Italiana", in my opinion the best song of all the World Cups and which made a nod to the romantic soccer that was played at that time. Twenty-four teams participated in the World Cup, arranged in the album in alphabetical order and it was full of stars, all the teams had established players, something that was rarely seen in the following World Cups.

El álbum consta de 52 páginas y 444 barajitas, los sobres de este contaban con tres barajitas y recuerdo tenían un costo de 10 bolívares. En ese entonces existía la opción de comprar 2 sobres y como obsequio te daban el álbum. Cada sobre de barajitas tenía un costo de 2 bolívares. En ese entonces era más complicado llenar el álbum porque no existía la venta de barajitas de manera individual, es por ello que no fué completado del todo, aunque faltaron solo unas pocas. Curiosamente la barajita de Diego Armando Maradona salía con mucha frecuencia.

Las barajitas no son autoadhesivas como lo son actualmente y se pegan solo en la parte superior pues la idea era que al levantarlas se pudiera ver el nombre y apellido del jugador, su posición en el esquema de juego del equipo, fecha de nacimiento, además del club para quien jugaba en ese entonces.

Este mundial contó con un tema musical muy conocido que tiene por nombre "Estate Italiana", a mi parecer la mejor canción de todos los mundiales y que le hacía un guiño a ese futbol romántico que se desplegaba en ese entonces. En el mundial participaron 24 selecciones, dispuestas en el álbum en orden alfabético y estuvo plagado de estrellas, todas las selecciones contaron con jugadores consagrados, cosa que se vió poco en los siguientes mundiales.

The World Cup in Venezuela was broadcasted by Venevisión and RCTV channels with its star commentator Lázaro Candal who narrated the matches directly from Italy.

The South American teams had a good participation in general, for example, Colombia arrived as the favorite thanks to its surprising results in the pre-World Cup. After many years they returned to the World Cup and, in my opinion, this Colombia is probably the best Colombia of all time, led by an experienced Carlos Valderrama.

In this tournament the figure of René Higuita, Colombian goalkeeper, revolutionized the role of the goalkeeper in the game, bringing a proposal of a more participative goalkeeper, taking free kicks and penalties.

The Argentine national team also played an excellent World Cup, facing the host Italy in the semifinals, a match that was played in Naples, the city where Maradona was consecrated with that city's club. There were incredible events around the Argentina team and Maradona and one of them was the moments where you could see how many Neapolitan Italians supported Argentina in their match against Italy in the semifinals; an incredible event!

El mundial en Venezuela fue transmitido por los canales Venevisión y RCTV con su comentarista estelar Lázaro Candal quien narró los partidos directamente desde Italia.

Las selecciones sudamericanas tuvieron una buena participación en general, por ejemplo, Colombia llegó como favorito gracias a sus sorprendentes resultados en el premundial. Después de muchos años volvieron a la copa del mundo y, a mi juicio, está Colombia es probablemente la mejor Colombia de todos los tiempos, liderados por un experimentado Carlos Valderrama.

En este torneo la figura de René Higuita, arquero colombiano, revolucióno el papel del portero en el juego, trayendo una propuesta de un guardameta más participativo, cobrando tiros libres y penales.

La selección Argentina también jugó un excelente mundial, enfrentandose a la anfitriona Italia en semifinales, partido que se jugó en Nápoles, ciudad donde Maradona se consagró con el club de esa ciudad. Se vivieron eventos increíbles en torno a la selección de Argentina y Maradona y una de ellas fue los momentos en dónde se pudo apreciar como muchos italianos napolitanos apoyaban a Argentina en su enfrentamiento contra Italia en semifinales; un hecho increíble!

Careca's Brazil did not arrive as favorites this time and fell in the round of 16 against Argentina, being superior and only a brilliant play by Maradona who gave the assist to striker Canigga who scored the only goal of the match.

Cameroon was a pleasant surprise in this World Cup, they made their debut in Spain 1982 and although their players were not known in European soccer, they managed to beat Argentina in their debut and Colombia in the Round of 16, finally losing in a penalty shootout against England.

The Italian national team, absolute favorite, destined to win the World Cup, with a legion of players who already knew what it was to be World Champion, such as Franco Baressi and Bergomi, their two central defenders, as well as their goalkeeper Walter Senga, who would eventually hold the unbeaten record of all World Cups, on the other hand, the rising star Roberto Baggio, who although he did not have a great World Cup already showed the great player he would become, failed to be crowned in his country.

El Brasil de Careca, no llegaron como favoritos está vez y cayeron en octavos de final contra Argentina, siendo superiores y solo una genialidad de Maradona quien dió la asistencia al delantero Canigga quien anotaría el único gol del partido.

Camerun fue una grata sorpresa en este mundial, ellos debutaron en España 1982 y a pesar de que sus jugadores no era conocidos en el fútbol europeo sin embargo, lograron vencer a Argentina en su debut y a Colombia en 8vos de final, cayendo finalmente en tanda de penales contra Inglaterra.

La selección Italiana, favorita absoluta, destinado a ganar la copa del mundo, con una legión de jugadores que ya sabían lo que era ser campeón del mundo, como el caso de Franco Baressi y Bergomi, sus dos defensores centrales, además de su arquero Walter Senga quien a la postre se quedaria con el récord de imbatibilidad de todos los mundiales, por otro lado, la estrella emergente Roberto Baggio que si bien no tuvo un gran mundial ya dejaba ver el gran jugador en que se convertiría, no logró coronarse en su país.

The final was played between Germany and Argentina and was defined by a penalty kick late in the match. Nowadays it is considered that the play should not have been considered as a penalty and once reviewed it is in the videos.

La final se disputó entre Alemania y Argentina definiendose por un penalty en las postrimerías del partido. En la actualidad se considera que la jugada no debío ser considerada como penaly una vez revisada esta en los vídeos.
