Saludos estimada comunidad, hace unas semanas atrás tuve la oportunidad de ver la película Archive por recomendación de un familiar que no me arrojó detalles de la misma y debo decir que su trama me pareció muy interesante, contentiva además de paralelismos al desarrollo de las acciones principales que van complementando el entendimiento de los sucesos y finalmente un giro sorprendente que para las personas analíticas y reflexivas, las deja pensando por varios días, es por ello, que esta oportunidad decidí presentar una revisión de la misma.

Archive es una película del género de la ciencia ficción (escenario en el cual sabemos se piensan las cosas que luego se crean y materializan en la realidad, en la mayoría de los casos) centrada en la perspectiva tecnológica, muy específicamente en la robótica y en la búsqueda que muchos grandes científicos y tecnólogos de la actualidad persiguen: la inmortalidad a través de la transferencia de la conciencia humana a una entidad artificial.

La misma inicia mostrando a George Almore (Theo James) trabajando en dos versiones robóticas a las cuales denomina J1 y J2 de las cuales se observa mayor autonomía por parte de J2 que representa una versión más avanzada de su predecesora J1, sin embargo, se aprecia mucho como la segunda muestra interés por el cuido y atención de la primera por solicitud de su creador. Al parecer George, quien se encuentra en una localización remota y montañosa, está a cargo de un proyecto de gran importancia para una prestigiosa compañía tecnológica quien le muestra en comunicaciones realizadas, cierto excepticismo por los logros concretos y aceptables de Almore en torno al mismo.

La referida empresa tecnológica no sólo está a cargo de desarrollar dispositivos robóticos sino que tiene una particularidad: guarda archivos de las conciencias de las personas fallecidas, y uno de esos archivos es la conciencia de Jules (Stacy Martin) la fallecida esposa de George quien perdiera la vida en un accidente de tránsito en un vehículo conducido por éste. De allí que la culpa y la negación de George por la pérdida de su esposa son el impulso necesario para avanzar en el proyecto prometido, esto es, él tiene como meta traer a su esposa de vuelta en el cuerpo de las estructuras robóticas que desarrolla, por lo cual, más adelante se aprecia que los archivos (software) ejecutado en las entidades J1 y J2 no son más que la conciencia de su propia esposa.

Un hecho destacado es que mediante un dispositivo muy particular George puede hacer llamadas telefónicas a la conciencia de su esposa con la cual interactúa constantemente, pero le queda poco tiempo antes de que el archivo de pierda, por lo cual debe acelerar el paso. Afortunadamente, George de forma secreta (a espaldas de la compañía) tiene avances de una nueva versión a la cual denominará J3, cuya entidad es sorprendentemente más avanzada que las versiones anteriores. Este avance es descubierto por J2 quien comienza a "tener celos" de la nueva creación y hace algunas acciones para sabotear los avances. Finalmente J3 es una realidad y es ejecutada con un archivo de prueba de la conciencia de Jules. Este modelo más avanzado y altamente más humano en apariencia (hecha a imagen y semejanza de Jules) asimila mucho mejor el archivo, incluso es capaz de descubrir un secreto que ésta no tuvo tiempo de revelar a George: estaba embarazada.

A pesar de los avances que muestra el prototipo, el cual parece todo un éxito, no le queda mucho tiempo de prueba a George para descargar en J3 el archivo de conciencia real y definitivo de su esposa. por otro lado, Simone (Rhona Mitra) la alta ejecutiva de desarrollo de la compañía no puede esperar más ante la sospecha de que George está ocultando algo, por lo cual se dirige al complejo remoto en el cual éste avanza en sus creaciones con el propósito de dilucidar los hechos. George teme que borren el archivo de George y se apresura a realizar la transferencia del mismo a la entidad J3 la cual se rehusa al principio, sin embargo, finalmente accede.

Una vez realizada la transferencia completa del archivo, algo parece no estar bien, una dura y cruda verdad está a punto de revelarse ante George con la entrada de una llamada impactante que cambiará la forma como venía viendo su realidad. Si no han visto esta película logicamente no puedo revelar el estremecedor desenlace, por lo cual es una invitación a que vean la película y la disfruten con todos los detalles de la misma.

Esta magistral producción cinematográfica estuvo a cargo de Gavin Rothery en la dirección y guión y protagonizada por el afamado actor Theo James, en compañía de un elenco conformado por Stacy Martin, Rhona Mitra, Lia Williams, Peter Ferdinando, Toby Jones y Richard Glover. Su estreno fue en julio del año 2020, en pleno apogeo de la pandemia por Covid19 (aún no se sabía mucho del nuevo coronavirus) por lo cual no tuvo una gran recaudación pero si muy buenas críticas.

Esta película genera muchas inquietudes muy oportunas para el debate y la reflexión, hay mucho que aún no conocemos de los avances en robótica e inteligencia artificial, sin ambargo, el tema de la inmortalidad es una cuestión que le quita el sueño no sólo a científicos y tecnólogos, sino también a muchos acaudalados económicamente que sueñan con extender su vida de forma ilimitada, incluso a través de la transferencia de nuestras conciencias a dispositivos y/o entidades robóticas. Por ahora, este artículo ha llegado a su fin, reiterando la invitación a disfrutar de esta bien lograda producción.

Greetings dear community, a few weeks ago I had the opportunity to see the Archive film on the recommendation of a relative who did not throw me details of it and I must say that its plot seemed very interesting, contentive as well as parallels to the development of the main actions that are complementing the understanding of the events and finally a surprising twist that for analytical and reflective people, leaves them thinking for several days, that is why this opportunity I decided to present a review of it.

Archive is a film of the science fiction genre (a scenario in which we know things are thought that are then created and materialized in reality, in most cases) focused on the technological perspective, very specifically on robotics and the quest that many great scientists and technologists today pursue: immortality through the transfer of human consciousness to an artificial entity.

It begins by showing George Almore (Theo James) working on two robotic versions which he calls J1 and J2, of which greater autonomy is observed by J2, which represents a more advanced version of its predecessor J1, however, it is appreciated Much like the second shows interest in the care and attention of the first at the request of its creator. Apparently George, who is in a remote and mountainous location, is in charge of a project of great importance for a prestigious technology company who shows him in communications made, a certain skepticism for the concrete and acceptable achievements of Almore around it.

A remarkable fact is that by means of a very particular device George can make telephone calls to the conscience of his wife with whom he constantly interacts, but he has little time left before the file is lost, so he must accelerate the pace. Fortunately, George secretly (behind the back of the company) has previews of a new version which he will call J3, whose entity is surprisingly more advanced than previous versions. This advance is discovered by J2 who begins to "get jealous" of the new creation and does some actions to sabotage the advances. Finally J3 is a reality and is executed with a test file of Jules' conscience. This more advanced model and highly more human in appearance (made in the image and likeness of Jules) assimilates the archive much better, is even capable of discovering a secret that she did not have time to reveal to George: she was pregnant.

Despite the progress that the prototype shows, which seems to be a success, George does not have much time to test to download his wife's real and definitive consciousness file in J3. on the other hand, Simone (Rhona Mitra), the company's senior development executive, can't wait any longer, suspecting that George is hiding something, so she heads to the remote complex where he is advancing his creations with the purpose to elucidate the facts. Once the complete file transfer is done, something seems wrong, a harsh and crude truth is about to reveal itself to George with the entry of a shocking call that will change the way he has seen his reality. If you have not seen this film, logically I cannot reveal the shocking outcome, so it is an invitation to see the film and enjoy it with all the details of it.

This masterful film production was in charge of Gavin Rothery in the direction and script and starring the famous actor Theo James, in the company of a cast made up of Stacy Martin, Rhona Mitra, Lia Williams, Peter Ferdinando, Toby Jones and Richard Glover. Its premiere was in July 2020, at the height of the Covid19 pandemic (not much was known about the new coronavirus yet) for which it did not have a great collection but it did have very good reviews.

This film generates many concerns that are very timely for debate and reflection, there is much that we still do not know about the advances in robotics and artificial intelligence, however, the issue of immortality is a question that not only makes scientists and technologists, but also many financially wealthy who dream of extending their lives in an unlimited way, even through the transfer of our consciousness to robotic devices and / or entities.
