The Significance Of Web 3 Is A Reason You Should Pay More Attention To Hive
There is no way I can make this post without giving credit to Hive and it’s community regarding the knowledge I have acquired over the month. Before I joined Hive I never knew the series of web we have or had, and their characteristics. I was initially enlightened about the web series and the importance of web 3 when I read @theycallmedan post. He got me curious and I wanted to know more about the web 3 and it’s future significance to our society.
We have the web 1, web 2 and web 3.
Web 1.0. (1990 - 2005)
Just as the number 1, it’s the first type of web that was created, it’s the what we can call the birth stage of the World Wide Web. During the stage of Web 1.0 , we had a small number of content creators during this era, the rate of content creators were very small, so the consumers have no other choice but to consume what these few content creators have to create. Users were not given access to communicate or create their own contents. So lots of things were limited. It’s understandable because it was at its earliest stage. Subsequently as technology advanced, there were needs to upgrade the web and there came the Web 2.0 .
Web 2.0 (2005 - 2020)
This stage of the web was also called the participative social web because it gave users the opportunity and access to participate. Users started interacting with one another, users were allowed to generate contents and there came the birth of the social media era. Now the content creation is not limited to some certain content creator, anyone that was interested in creating content can create content now. We had people go into blogging and excelled in blogging. But there was no ownership of content by the network users, the owner of the platform had the ownership rights.

Why You Are Lucky To Be An Early Hive Investor
At the stage of web 1 and web 2 they were centralized, and just like every centralized platform, at the initial stage they will try their best to get as much users as they could get, and these users range from content creators, consumers, businesses and people that can develop the platform. These will drive a hype in the market, they will create an avenue where these users have no other choice, than to depend on them. The adoption rate became massive, then they gradually started taking power and advantage over these users. Some users know and don’t care, while some users are totally oblivious towards it. These platforms get to a point where they don’t care about interacting or building a relationship with their users anymore. They have gotten what they want, and that is control, this is the reason you have heard of Facebook breaching users privacy, they get access to literally your life through your phones and where you visit. Most of them breach privacy probably because they are now in competition with each other and they are trying to prove which platform can control their network users the most.
While the ones that know the game and how it is played decided not to be their puppet but instead decide to look for ways to counter it and go around it. I feel that brought the initiative and revolutionary movement towards the creation and adoption of the web 3.
Web 3
Now users want control, ownership and they want to be decentralized. Once again Satoshi Nakamuto saw way ahead into the future by creating Bitcoin, blockchain and smart contract. Creating Bitcoin that gave users proof of ownership of a minute part of the internet. When you buy and hold Bitcoin you own a part of the internet. This gave developers more ideas into building the web 3. You can see from the evolution of NFTs were people can now own their own media when embedded on a blockchain, giving them complete ownership eliminating the third party. Now these tokens and transaction are giving people the opportunity to transact without the need of a third party or authorization. This has made lots of people create genuine relationships and worked together towards achieving a common initiative.
The web 3 and its ideas has reduced and restricted the control we used to see the centralized platforms have, where users value is transferred to them. You find users always trying to fight for their rights. The web 3 is meant to currently give the users more control rights to there contents, and we are gradually seeing people switching to the web 3.
I have seen web 3 gradually being adopted into our daily lives down to streaming music. The old music streaming gives power and control to the centralized platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal and the rest, but we have a decentralized streaming platform called Audius that gives the users and the creators a decentralized music experience. Well I guess other centralized music platforms have to switch.
Well let me start by telling you that Hive is already in the future as it’s on web 3. From your experience on Hive, you can see the amount of freedom you have on Hive, isn’t that wonderful and hasn’t it changed your orientation in the way you see the world. You now find yourself consistently being creative because unlike web 2 you own your contents. Once again Hive is way ahead of its time and you currently being and using Hive and having its value this low just gives you the opportunity of being an early investor.
