Misconception, Misrepresentation & Misunderstanding of Web 3.0
Late 2021, Metaverse was the trending word where all platforms were throwing the words around and trying to use it for their marketing strategy. Here we are seeing the Web 3.0 word being thrown around with proper understanding of what it is. All these is based on the digital environment and the stage where we are, remember when Jack Dorsey claimed he is inventing Web 5.0. before investing in any Web 3.0 space its best you totally understand the space to know where you are investing your time and money in. Sp as not to waste your time and money.

Web 1.0 was all about one end creating content and not giving the consumers the ability to communicate and have opinions on what they are consuming. They consume what they get given, and not have an opinion to interact or have a say in what you are consuming, this means that the creators of the Web 1.0 platforms have total control of everything. Then there came the Web 2.0 that gave the consumers the opportunity to also create contents and interact with the platforms, but this doesn’t give the consumers a total control of their contents. Which means that there is no freedom in content ownership. We must have experienced this in different Web 2.0 where we get our freedoms taken away from us on the platforms through mute, banning or account delete. This totally goes against the freedom of speech we are supposed to have. This means that the platform owns whatever you post on their platforms and they have the right to delete it or claim it.
A solutions is needed, there came Web 3.0 with a better solution and satoshi nakamuto was the person to bring the awareness through decentralisation and the blockchain technology. Web 3.0 is supposed to give total freedom to content creators and give them complete ownership of their accounts and their contents. A lot of people don’t know and lack doing their own researches or ask questions. If a platform claims to be a decentralised Web 3.0 platform, I think its best to know what blockchain it operates on and know if the devs have control of your account. Most people just get crypto attached to their projects and plaster Web 3.0 on it. Hive has given me better understanding and experience of what Web 3.0 is.
I have searched for other Web 3.0 platforms since I found Hive and after my search and understanding, I have come to realise that Hive is the only true Web 3.0 I have found so far. So according to my experience, to identify true Web 3.0 , the platform should be functioning on a blockchain for true transparency and possible decentralisation, the platform should have private keys that has no third party contact. This key is only between you and the platform. Consumers of the platform will have total control and freedom of their works.

Web 3.0 is truly the solution to so many problems within the Internet, but especially when it comes to freedom of expression (as you well said). Because thanks to Web 3.0, the paradigm that they can delete our accounts, veto our opinions and censor our content will end, because we are the sole owners and responsible for everything we publish and because we are the real owners of our accounts on the platforms 3.0, as long as we have our private keys safely stored.
Also, as you said, people have to understand that all this Web 3.0 is another of the benefits of blockchain technology, and not classify as "Web 3.0" any platform that claims to be so without consciously investigate about it to be able to ensure that they are indeed 3.0 platforms.
Another thing is that, like you, it has also happened to me that I have investigated about other 3.0 platforms, but the best platform that I have obtained in this sense has been HIVE. This is why I know that HIVE will go far into the future, when people finally understand what Web 3.0 is all about. Until then, we must create content that allows people to understand more and more what all this is about and the great benefits that come with it in every way.
