SPLINTERLANDS HAVE DEVIATED FROM PLAY TO EARN FOR THE NEWBIES

So far splinterlands has been the best free to play NFT game, but this could be changing with all the updates regarding DEC rewards and other factors in the game.
We all know that the free to play nature of the game is what attracts new players and more players means more value is added to the game but splinterlands has made it clear that they have have no value for beginners and thereby removing all sort of DEC rewards for players still ranking in novice -bronze 2 without considering that these levels determine whether or not a player will continue to play and invest more in the game or just stop playing because he or she has not noticed any form of rewards, they do not understand how crucial the beginning is for the increase in value of the whole game.
linne.space.png
WHAT COMES TO THE BEGINNERS MIND

I dont know if splinterlands have considered this but after a beginner pays $10 he atleast expects some sort of encouragement, even if it is 0.001 DEC per win as it was in the beginning because he/she knows that by increase in rating and power it would surely increase but instead when a player wins a battle he is stuck with no rewards and the first thing which comes to that players mind is that "The game is a total waste of money and time " all because it showed no form of reward.
I dont know if splinterlands have decided that they dont want new players and so made changes to give the new players nothing (on the issue of "Daily quest ", 1 out of 100,000 beginners receive a reasonable card; so it shouldnt be an excuse for rewards)
This tends to discourage new player from playing further and just dropping the game (loosing their $10)
linne.space.png
ARE RENTALS STILL PROFITABLE.
Topic for another day..
On the issue of rentals for beginners, the short answer is no and I am not the only player to say this (many big players in the silver and Gold ) the rental system is made to favour only big players who can earn back their money with few wins. Imagine a bronze player renting 100DEC summoner 🤣🤣 for a day .
The only way is to buy cards ( what is free to play when you buy a $500 summoner only to be earning 10 DEC per day -buy bread instead🤣🤣) .
Now am afraid of renting cards to play ranked battles And the one day rental system is something else.

HOW THIS WILL SHAPE THE GAME
I still dont know what strategy the splinterlands team have come up with to turn new players to customers (maybe to show the big rewards at higher levels so to make them spend their $cash ) but they should note that no reasonable person will put upto $1000 in the game without seeing a good reason at the very begining
My advice to the splinterlands team is that they should consider the new players because every diamond player played up to that level because of the encouragement from the very beginning and all it could take is for a popular youtuber in NFT niche to pick up his microphone and camera and make a video with a title "splinterlands is not profitable for beginners ". And thats it for them.

linne.space.png
THE ONLY STRATEGY
the only strategy for beginners now is to rent cards with high power one day prior to season end so as to try their luck and this is because for a beginner renting upto silver 2 power will cost much and many players use the oneday rental system..

My rating is above silver 2 but my power is still low and am stuck at bronze 1.
I wonder what those in the third tier countries will do about this (or maybe the game is not meant for them)
Please help if you can ; any crypto or card will be good am @readforfun

NOTE: this post is meant to send a message to @splinterlands . Please if you find thi post reasonable tag @splinterlands in the comment section.

NOTE: If you find this post discouraging please Dont roast me too much because i am speaking for the Beginners (novice, bronze and silver)

NOTE: Dont stop playing and strive to reach gold and diamond level because it is a lot more profiteable at that stage

Thank you for reading .
PEACE....

Well we dont currently know the mind of the splinterlands' team for now but where i see another opportunity for begginers is through the CL launch. just my honest opinion.

I think farming is also one of the reason for the change in rewards.

Hopefully things gets better in the future.

I'm also a new player, I started in September and am currently in Silver 3, but I think the recent reward changes actually help new players who are invested in their own long-term growth in Splinterlands. In the short-term, the recent changes look like they kill the rewards for new players and I'm sure a lot of newer players have left because of them, but this is due to a short-term outlook on their investment in this game.

The new reward changes greatly increase the amount of time investment needed to grow an account without any monetary investment, but it will also make profitable botting without monetary investment much more difficult. This will prevent bots from inflating the markets, which would make the assets new players gain worthless over time. Over the long term, these changes will help assets appreciate along with the game's growth and new players will see their account values grow.

I agree with you that renting is the best option for new players but I disagree that such a large amount of DEC is needed to get into silver. I have purchased some cards and have received some rewards so I own about 4,500 power in cards, but I'm only spending 26.441 DEC/day to rent the rest of the power needed for silver. This is a fairly small amount of DEC and I'm able to easily make this back in a few matches each day.

Because you have received some rewards and purchased some cards.
I havent received any reasonable card and good cards with high power cost more than my house monthly rent🤣🤣

I'm able to maintain the rating required for silver 3 with the starter deck, I only rent the power required to stay in the league. You don't need overpowered, expensive cards to stay in silver where most players are using level 1 cards. You only need to understand some basic strategies so you can counter your opponent.

The rental system .
Trying using a new account and see if you can rent upto 5000 DEC and make any profit back in one day

This is exactly my point, you're thinking too short-term about this investment. Like I said, the time investment is much greater for new players after these changes but over the long term, if a new player sticks with this game, their rewards will appreciate with the growth of the game. I hope these reward changes haven't steered you away from this game, I think there's a real opportunity here if you're willing to stick it out for a few years.

Am not planning on leaving, but the fear of using up all my DEC for renting without getting back any profit is hunting me.
I have reached the silver2 level but too bad for me i dont have enogh DEC to rent , even if i was to use the one i have , the rewards woudnt cover my expenses even a little bit .. am down -$50 and am loosing more tonight🤣

I'd suggest only renting the power required for silver 3 and see if there are any expensive cards that you are currently renting that you can live without. It sounds like your rental costs are high so I'd focus on reducing those costs without sacrificing the silver league rewards. With a little work on cost reduction I think you'll be able to start turning a profit.

Do you have any card in mind for example because all the low price cards are usually 1000 or 1500 power and around 13-100DEC so i have to rwnt like seven of those oto rank upto silver 3

I usually just grab whatever the highest CP/DEC cards are that are available on the market, which you can view on PeakMonsters. I've been able to consistently rent cards for around 300-400 CP/DEC and every once in a while get lucky with a better deal. But even at 300 CP/DEC, you're only looking at 50 DEC/day to rent the 15k power needed for silver 3.

I agree with you that @splinterlands should not remove the dec rewards. I am a casual gamer. I like playing games but get bored from time to time and step away. Because of that I do not have a large collection of cards and frequently have to rely on the loaned cards that may also be removed making it even more difficult for me to play and rise in rank and card power.
Please Splinterlands leave the dec rewards and do not remove the card loans.

Am with you.
I am stuck at bronze 1 with fear that if i use all my DEC to rent, i woudnt have any left for renting for season reward

I can only reach silver three at the moment. I need more cards and am not able to buy cards as often as I like so rely on winning cards. I only own one summoner. If splinterlands takes away the card loans I won't be able to play at all.
I'd like to rent my cards but haven't figured out how that works.

As much as I believe that perspective (for the beginners) is necessary for dialogue...I have to disagree with it for a couple reasons. In the play2earn arena (and just crypto in general) early adopters get the most rewards for risking time and/or capital early. There are plenty of players who believed in the game early and only invested roughly $100 and now have 5 figure accounts just from playing and earning rewards.
Unfortunately, the more funds that come into any marketplace will cause the floor to rise in 1 way or another...its just cause and effect of the game being very successful. IMO its more about sustainability. With the game's success there a lot of "beginners" looking at splinterlands as a money grab, so levers had to be adjusted.
Again, not saying you're wrong for that perspective...I just feel certain things have to be done if the team wants longevity in the space

Ok #for the money grab got my attention.
You are right in a way.
But dont you think 0.001 could be good something interesting for beginners to start with

It is combination of both "play to earn" and "invest to earn", you need to find sweet spot in balancing both of them (from r1s2g3)

That's a very good clarification. Thanks for pointing this out. It actually changed my position on the game.
